Muslim World still propagating Blood Libel against Jews

Prof. Moshe Sharon of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem says: Unfortunately, the “matzah blood libel” is alive & well.

By David Lev

It may seem hallucinatory in this day and age, but unfortunately, the “matzah blood libel” is alive and well. In a discussion with Arutz Sheva, Professor Moshe Sharon of Hebrew University said that there were still many instances of the false accusations against Jews for allegedly using the blood of non-Jews to make matzah, but that these accusations today are made in the Muslim world, not the Christian world, where the libel originated in 1144 with the fabricated story of William of Norwich, England. The commentary, published Monday on the website of the U.S.-based Pediatrics journal, disputes a report by the academy last August that  “benefits of newborn male circumcision outweigh the risks but the benefits are not great enough to recommend universal newborn circumcision.”

The European reply, titled “Cultural Bias in the AAP’s 2012 Technical Report and Policy Statement on Male Circumcision,” says that “seen from the outside, cultural bias reflecting the normality of nontherapeutic male circumcision in the United States seems obvious. Continue Reading »

New Muslim dream for the Temple Mount

Op-ed: Devout Muslim dreams of a Jerusalem holy site where people of all faiths pray together.

By Sinem Tezyapar

The unique importance of the Temple Mount to Judaism and to Islam makes the location vulnerable to tensions and conflicts between Jews and Muslims. Usually, these incidents originate in rumors such as: “The Jews are coming today to bomb the mosques and build their Third Temple.” Obviously, false accusations and baseless suspicions such as these turn the site from a holy place of prayer and love into a site of violent political demonstrations. The potential escalation of tension brings on more restrictions and discomfort to all. Continue Reading »

The Potential Under Troubled Waters

With Israel’s discovery & exploitation of its natural gas fields, the country inherits a whole new set of problems & options it has never had to consider before.

By Aharon Lapidot

One morning in January 2009, the State of Israel awoke to the news that its eternal gripe against Moses for bringing us to the only corner of the Middle East that is bereft of oil suddenly — and surprisingly — was put to the test. While there still isn’t any black gold to be found on Israeli soil, there are quite large deposits of natural gas just off of our coast, with the potential for substantial profit quite real.
