IDF officials: Hezbollah seeks to ensure Golan Heights  doesn’t fall under rebels’ control.

Hezbollah also hopes to use confrontation in Syria to acquire advanced Syrian weaponry without being detected by Israel,  although no attempt has been made since the alleged Israeli airstrike.

A 45-year-old resident of Shfaram, a predominantly Arab-populated city in northern Israel, was indicted Sunday at the Haifa Magistrate’s Court on a series of security-related charges including contact with a foreign agent, handover of potentially valuable information to the enemy and aiding an unlawful association.

According to the indictment, Zaher Omar Yusefin traveled to Saudi Arabia for the Haj when he allegedly met members of Hezbollah and Palestinian groups, helped them hold meetings with Israeli youth who also arrived at the country and gave information on IDF bases in northern Israel. Dozen of rockets fired from Syria but now Hezbollah stronghold in Lebanon hit

Lebanese officials say 16 rockets fired by Syrian rebels have struck eastern region of Baalbek, Lebanon for first time.

The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief reporters, say the rockets caused a fire in fields without casualties.

The area that was struck is a stronghold of Lebanon‘s militant Hezbollah group that is fighting alongside Syrian President Bashar Assad‘s forces against rebels who are trying to remove him from power. Continue Reading »

16 rockets fired from Syria reported to have hit Lebanon

Lebanese daily reports no one hurt in 2nd attack of rockets which come amid Hezbollah’s unwanted interference into Syrian unrest.

More than 16 rockets were fired from Syria into Lebanon early Saturday morning landing in the Bekaa Valley region, The Lebanese Daily Star quoted a security source as saying.

There were no injuries in the attacks, according to the report, but a rocket did cause a fire to break out near the town of Sireen al-Fawqa.

The Daily Star quoted Lebanese state media as reporting that four Syrians had been arrested in connection with the rocket attacks.

Busted: Hezbollah cell nabbed and weapon cache confiscated in Nigeria

Nigerian state security forces have discovered & arrested a Hezbollah terror cell and recovered their store of weapon and explosives.

Nigeria’s security services said Thursday they had discovered a home in the northern city of Kano where Lebanese nationals had stored weapons intended to attack Israeli and Western targets in Nigeria.

The Kano state intelligence chief, Bassey Etang, and a separate military statement described the compound as hosting a “terrorist cell” tied to the powerful Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah.

No evidence was provided linking the home to the Lebanese group.

Bahrain to seek Hezbollah added to Gulf States’ terror list

Not only are Gulf States consider placing Lebanon’s Hezbollah on Gulf terror blacklist, Iranian spy networks running amuck in Gulf states to be addressed.

WASHINGTON – The US State Department called on Lebanon’s Hezbollah militia on Wednesday to withdraw its fighters from Syria immediately, saying their involvement on the side of Syrian President Bashar Assad signaled a dangerous broadening of the war.

State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki condemned the declaration last weekend by the leader of the Lebanese guerrilla movement, Hasran Nasrallah. He confirmed his combatants were in Syria and vowed they would stay in the war “to the end of the road.”

Reported: Rocket fired at Israel from southern Lebanon

Lebanese security sources say rocket has been fired in the direction of Israel, although it remains a mystery where it may have landed.

A rocket was fired from south Lebanon towards Israel on Sunday, Lebanese security sources said. Residents of the northern Israeli town of Metula reported hearing a blast.

NYT: Israel conducts intelligence activity in Syria & works with local villagers

A New York Times report claims Israel has dropped the idea of a buffer zone in Syria as it would be seen as an invasion & spark confrontation with Assad’s forces, but is not eliminating use of a ‘proxy’ force in the country.

 

 

Israeli forces are “maintaining intense intelligence activity” in Syria and have “quietly” begun working with villagers there unallied to either the rebels or President Bashar Assad’s regime amid increasing fears that the Syrian civil war will spill over its borders, The New York Times reported on Thursday.
