UNIFIL Spokesman: Israel, Lebanon hold ‘near-daily’ meetings to defuse tension

A spokesman for the U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon said that since the current situation along the Israel-Lebanon border is “very sensitive” both sides have been holding meetings “almost on a daily basis… The dialogue is open. No one has ever walked out.”

Lebanon and Israel have been holding near-daily talks over the border dispute that has raised tensions between them, according to the U.N. peacekeeping force that is mediating their discussions.

UNIFIL inadvertently confirms Israeli claims: Lebanese army under Hezbollah influence

Former liaison officer with the UN’s Interim Force in Lebanon tells French newspaper how, “the Lebanese Army would prevent us [UNIFIL] from posting observers. …Everyone knows that Hezbollah is using [preparing] the area for the next war.”

The UN force in Lebanon has accused Hezbollah and the Lebanese Army of hampering their work, which includes spying on the peacekeepers, in a report due to appear on the website of French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche, on Friday.

Hezbollah chief warns Israel to stop construction of border wall with Lebanon

Hassan Nasrallah has warned Israel  to cease work on upgraded border wall that the IDF deems imperative in it’s overall strategy for preventing future terrorists’ infiltration from Lebanon.



Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah has warned Israel against continued construction of a wall along its border with Lebanon, after Beirut said the project was undermining peace.

“After liberating the Lebanese occupied territories from the Zionist enemy in 2000, the UN demarcation of the national border with the Palestinian territories left 13 controversial positions, and the Lebanese government informed the UNIFIL about its rejection for any Israeli measure in this concern,” Nasrallah was quoted by Hezbollah website al-Manar as saying. Israel exposes Hizbollah ‘mole’ within Lebanese Army to UNIFIL command

Victory for Israel: UN Security Council resolution requires UNIFIL to confront Hezbollah

U.S. envoy to U.N. vows to “seek significant improvements” to UNIFIL

Hezbollah’s TV reports of another Israeli spying device on the border


Hezbollah’s TV channel reports finding a spy device with photographic and transmission capabilities near the border, not far from a Lebanese airstrip & army post in the village of Markaba.

Hezbollah’s al-Manar TV station reported on Tuesday that a transmission and photographic spy device was discovered on the Israel-Lebanon border, which the station said belonged to Israel.

‘Israeli spying device’ found in Lebanon in December

According to the report, the device was found near the Blue Line and not far from a Lebanese army post and airstrip in the village of Markaba.

Hezbollah’s official website accused Israel of “violating Lebanese sovereignty after planting spying and photographic devices east of the village of Markaba in southern Lebanon.”

A Hezbollah official told the Financial Times last week, “People are not going to accept you living among them and calling them terrorists.”

Gerald Steinberg, a professor of political studies at Bar-Ilan University and the head of the Jerusalem-based NGO Monitor, told The Jerusalem Post on Saturday, “The reports of increased friction in southern Lebanon are not surprising after the European Union belatedly added Hezbollah to the list of terror organizations.”

According to a late-June UN report, the EU has thousands of military personnel as part of the 10,656-member force UNIFIL mission.

UNIFIL fear Hezbollah terrorists

Again, UN peacekeeping forces that Israel depends on to keep its borders peaceful are under-maned, under-equipped, & under-trained to actually have to deal with performing their duties.

The peacekeepers of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) are increasingly coming into hostile and even violent contact with the Hezbollah terrorist militia near the Lebanon-Israel border. The Lebanese troops who had taken control of the border after the last war in 2006 have largely been redeployed as a result of mounting tension on the country’s eastern border due to the ongoing Syrian civil war.
