IDF admits 2 more wounded Syrians into Israeli hospital

IDF treats 4 Syrians wounded in their civil war strife at the border.

Syria fires 5 shells into Lebanon.

The IDF provided medical care to four wounded Syrians who approached the border fence with Israel on Wednesday, evacuating two of them to Israeli hospitals for further treatment, the IDF Spokesman’s Office stated.

The treatment was provided for humanitarian reasons and was approved by IDf Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz.

The IDF emphasized that the incident did not constitute a change in Israel’s policy regarding the acceptance of refugees from Syria.

IDF Military Intelligence chief Maj. Gen. Aviv Kochavi on Thursday presented a grim picture of Israel’s strategic surroundings, saying that four of the Middle East’s superpowers — Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt — were all led by religious leadership whose fundamental view of Israel is one of a “foreign, unwelcome element” and who increasingly see the world through religious lenses.

Two Israeli Air Force pilots killed when helicopter crashed

Two IAF aircrew members were killed last night in a Cobra combat helicopter crash during a practice flight. IAF Commander Major General Eshel instructed the formation of an investigative committee and the grounding of the Cobra Formation.

Two Air Force pilots were killed in a helicopter crash in the Revadim area south of Gedera on Tuesday. Contact with the Cobra helicopter was lost on Monday night prompting IDF forces to launch a search.

Continued Decline of IDF Recruits Seeking Combat Units

March enductment rates demonstrate that only 71.6% of able recruits request combat units, a decline from last year.

The number of recruits seeking to serve in IDF combat units has declined, according to the initial March enlistment rates, Yedioth Ahronoth reported on Sunday. The rate of recruits with the required combat fitness who requested to enlist to combat units stands at solely 71.6%.

IDF PhotoThis figure is in line with the ongoing decline witnessed since the end of the Operation Cast Lead, over four years ago.

The IDF hopes that the decline in motivation is temporary and will cease to exist and claimed that this data must be compared to parallel enlistment periods with similar distinguishing qualities. Continue Reading »

Report: IDF ready for possible conflict with Hezbollah

Israel believes the Lebanese Shi’ite guerrillas also stand ready to retaliate if it carries out long-threatened strikes on the nuclear sites of Iran, another Hezbollah patron.

Hezbollah fought Israel’s far more advanced forces to a standstill when they last came to blows, in 2006, and rained more than 4,000 rockets on northern Israel.

This week, some 190 “Lone Soldiers” finished an ‘Ulpan’, a special Hebrew crash-course run by the IDF’s education branch.

Some 190 “Lone Soldiers”, immigrants who have come to Israel without their families to serve in the Israeli army, finished a special Hebrew instruction course run by the IDF this week.

UNICEF reports that Israel mistreats Palestinian children in custody

UNICEF (The United Nations Children Fund)  estimated that about 700 Palestinian children aged 12-17, most boys, are arrested, interrogated and then detained by the Israeli Police, IDF and/or security agents in the West Bank each year.

No injuries as Mortar shells hit Golan Heights Again

Explosions most likely the result of misfire during battles between Syrian rebels & Assad’s forces, at least 3 shells explode in the Golan Heights, very close to the  Syria-Israel border.

Second time this week: At least three mortar shells hit open areas in Israeli territories in the southern Golan Heights Saturday. No injuries or damage were immediately reported.

According to preliminary evaluations, the hits are most likely the result of Syrian battles’ stray shooting.

Ceasefire Broken: Southern Israel Under Fire by Gaza Terrorists

Gaza-based terrorists opened fire on the Shaar Hanegev region in southern Israel. It’s the 2nd time in less than a week that Gaza terrorists have violated the Egyptian-brokered ceasefire agreement with Israel that was reached at the end of Operation Pillar of Defense.

For the first since the end of the IDF’s Pillar of Defense counterterrorism operation, Gaza-based terrorists opened fire on Friday afternoon towards the Shaar Hanegev region in southern Israel.

A group of IDF workers has spent a large part of the last several weeks in the desert in southern Israel, setting off bombs. Their goal: to find the safest windows in the world.

Major Benny Brosh, head of the research and development unit, explained the process to Arutz Sheva.

IDF sends ‘induction orders’ via new online system

IDF aims to streamline induction process with its new online system that will issue reservists’ orders by email.

No longer will marching orders be sent to IDF reservists by the iconic brown envelopes: The military announced the launch of a new online system tailored specifically to the Reserves needs.

Reserves soldiers will now receive their deployment orders by email, and will be given an access code to a special secure website, which will include all the information relevant to their posts, in addition to many other features.

The technological improvement was promoted by the IDF Personnel Directorate and the Teleprocessing Branch, following many complaints by reservists about the inefficient process. Continue Reading »

Poor Driving causes massive damage to Chief of Staff’s car

The Military Police have launched an investigation into a driving blunder that has resulted in massive damage to IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz‘s security detail’s vehicle.

GantzThe Toyota Land Cruiser reportedly sustained damage estimated at hundreds of thousands of shekels to its chassis and on-board security systems after the driver attempted to cross a flooded road and failed. No one was hurt in the incident.

The Military Police’s investigation is standard procedure for cases where damages to IDF equipment exceed NIS 5,000 (roughly $1350). Continue Reading »
