Dutch firm says boycotting Israel wasn’t factor in port tender exit


TheMarker may have erroneously reported that at least 2 foreign companies dropped out of a tender for port construction, due to anti-Israel boycotts.

A report in TheMarker on Monday stating that at least two foreign companies dropped out of the Israeli government tender to develop private seaports due to anti-Israel boycotts has been disputed by two of the companies involved.

Spokesmen for Royal Boskalis Westminster, a Dutch company that did not submit a bid as expected, and the Israel Ports Company, the state-owned company conducting the tender, both denied in separate statements that Bosalis had dropped out of the tender at all.

Church Leaders Reject BDS Boycott After Tour in Soda Stream Factory

American delegates from the Presbyterian Church, which formally endorsed boycotting Israel, change their minds after viewing up close the West Bank Soda Stream factory.

A delegation of 14 leaders from the Presbyterian clergy, a church that in the past supported boycotting Israeli products manufactured in Judea and Samaria (Shomron), arrived last week to visit Israel.

The visit was organized by the America-Israel Friendship League (AIFL); the delegates’ goal was to discover Israel personally and to better understand the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Israel boycott fears facilitated 2 foreign bidders to withdraw ports tender

The deterioration of Israel’s international standing has been evident this week as at least two leading international companies bidding to build private seaports here dropped out of the government’s tender due to concerns over the political repercussions.

Royal Boskalis Westminster, a Dutch operator of ports that had submitted a proposal under the name Holland Terminal in the prequalification stage last December, dropped out shortly thereafter. More recently, Italy’s Condote de Agua withdrew after passing the prequalification process.

French courts punish anti-Israel BDS activists in hate crime

 

About 20 anti-Israel BDS activists have been convicted under the Lellouche law, which has France spearheading the efforts to neutralize the movement through legal means.

BDS Facebook page hassling Rolling Stones on boycott is phony

The Facebook page calling on the Rolling Stones to boycott their scheduled performance in Israel has been revealed as a spoof.

 

WASHINGTON — A Facebook page claiming victory in getting the Rolling Stones to boycott Israel is an apparent hoax.

BDS Rolling Stones Facebook page The “Rolling Stones: Boycott Israel” page, established Wednesday, on Thursday reported that the group had cancelled a planned June 10 concert.

It cited “sources with the Rolling Stones,” but there has been no such announcement.

The page also posted a letter asking the group to boycott Israel and  signed by the page organizers as well as supposedly by Electronic Intifada and the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement. Continue Reading »

A new video promo-trailer has been released to aid the BDS in their Israel-bashing events for ‘Israel Apartheid Week 2014’.

BDS to New Zealand: ‘Refuse visas to Israeli dance troupe’

BDS & Pro-Palestinian activists are trying to prevent Israel’s Batsheva Dance Company from performing in February at the New Zealand arts festival.

 

 

Pro-Palestinian activists in New Zealand have called on the government there not to issue visas to members of Israel’s Batsheva Dance Company, which is scheduled to perform at next month’s New Zealand Festival of the Arts.

In letters to New Zealand’s immigration and foreign ministers, activists from several different pro-Palestinian and pro-Israel boycott groups expressed their “concern” about the scheduled Batsheva performance, according to J-Wire, a Jewish news source from Australia and New Zealand. N.Y. Senate: New law penalizes universities that boycott Israel

The new law doesn’t specifically mention Israel, but the bill’s sponsor Senator Jeffrey Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester), noted that academic boycotts of Israel were what inspired him to introduce the legislation.

Scarlett Johansson quits as Oxfam ambassador

Movie star resigns from humanitarian group due fundamental difference of opinion in regards to BDS, boycotts and Israel.

 

Scarlett Johansson is ending her relationship with the humanitarian group Oxfam International after being criticized over her support for an Israeli company that operates in the West Bank.

A statement released by Johansson’s spokesman Wednesday said the 29-year-old actress has “a fundamental difference of opinion” with Oxfam International because the humanitarian group opposes all trade from Israeli settlements, saying they are illegal and deny Palestinian rights.

“Scarlett Johansson has respectfully decided to end her ambassador role with Oxfam after eight years,” the statement said. Continue Reading »
