Palestinian leader Abbas has activist & reporter arrested after call for his resignation

Palestinian journalist Ayman Qawasmi, and human rights activist Issa Amro, were reportedly arrested after their Facebook posts calling on the Palestinian autocrat Mahmoud Abbas to resign, since he finished his presidential term a decade ago.

Palestinian security forces have detained a prominent activist and a journalist after they called for Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to resign.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas told Israeli politicians that the Donald Trump administration believes in ending settlement construction and the two-state solution but refuses to publicly say so.

Abbas told members of the left-wing Meretz party that he found the administration’s policy incomprehensible.

“I have met with Trump’s emissaries to the Middle East about 20 times since the beginning of his tenure, and they repeatedly emphasized to me how much they believe in and are committed to the two-state solution and to the cessation of construction in the settlements,” Abbas said. Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas today sent congratulations to the ruler of North Korea, Kim Jong-Un, in honor of the country’s Liberation Day,  (PMW) reported. In the statement released by WAFA, the official PA news agency, Abbas wished Jong-un “all health and happiness.”

Palestinian Autocrat Mahmoud Abbas Terminates Contacts With Israel

 

PA chairman announces he’s freezing all contacts “with the occupation state on all levels” because of the metal-detectors placed at the Temple Mount entrance, which he claims are “falsely presented as a security measure to take control over Al-Aqsa mosque.”

Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas announced on Friday he was freezing contacts with Israel over its new security measures at the Temple Mount.

Abbas said in a speech that the freeze would stay in place until Israel lifted the measures, reported the AFP news agency.

“I, on behalf of the Palestinian leadership, announce… a freeze of all contacts with the occupation state on all levels until Israel commits to cancelling all the measures against our Palestinian people in general and Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque in particular,” Abbas announced, to applause from Palestinian officials.
