A steadfast Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu made clear in a speeach to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday that Israel would not accept a nuclear armed Iran, and would “stand alone” if necessary to achieve that aim.

“Israel will not allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons, even if we have to stand alone,” he said.
The proportion of Jews who say they have no religion and are Jewish only on the basis of ancestry, ethnicity or culture is growing rapidly, and two-thirds of them are not raising their children Jewish at all.

Gillerman, who was only the second Israeli after Abba Eban to serve as vice president of the UN General Assembly, said the UN has three standards – one for democracy, one for totalitarian states and another for Israel.

Dr. Mohamed Helmy and Frieda Szturmann, a German woman, were honored for hiding several Berlin Jews from the Nazis who otherwise would have been deported to death camps. Helmy is the first Egyptian to receive this honor, Yad Vashem announced.
Helmy, who was born in Khartoum, Sudan in 1901 to Egyptian parents, came to Berlin to study medicine in 1922 and worked at the Robert Koch Institute until he was fired, due to his non- Aryan ethnicity, in 1937.
Alert IDF soldiers on Monday night prevented a terror attack at the Gaza border fence. The incident occurred near Kibbutz Nachal Oz, Channel Two reported.

Several Gaza Arabs approached the border fence, the report said. IDF soldiers patrolling in the area identified suspicious figures near the fence, and ordered them to halt. The soldier received what is known as an aliyah to the Torah, during which she recited a blessing over a Torah portion — a custom that is typically reserved for men in mainstream Orthodox synagogues. The Petah Tikvah Magistrates’ Court on Monday agreed to extend the remand of Iranian-born Ali Mansouri, who traveled throughout Israel as Belgian businessman Alex Mans, for another eight days.
The Technion-Israel Institute of Technology on Sunday received a $130 million grant to build an academy called the Technion Guangdong Institute of Technology as a joint venture with China’s Shantou University.

The Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) announced Sunday that the Beersheba Ramta plant signed a contract with the defense establishment to provide three Super Dvora fast patrol boats to the Israeli Navy. The Super Dvora is an advanced medium-sized vessel used for security operations.

Official Israeli sources told the newspaper that Lebanon is about to award offshore oil and gas exploration licenses in areas that encroach on Israel’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
