After School Ignored Severe Anti-Semitic Abuse, 5 NY Students Awarded $4.5 Million

U.S. Federal judge rules in favor of $4.5 settlement for 5 students from a NY school district that ignored ongoing anti-Semitic verbal & physical assaults.

A New York state federal judge last Thursday ruled in favor of five Jewish students who suffered severe anti-Semitic abuse at schools in upstate New York, approving for them a $4.5 million settlement from the school district.

The case has dragged on for years, after the students and their families initially sued the Pine Bush school district back in 2012 for ignoring swastika graffiti as well as verbal and physical abuse of Jewish elementary, middle and high school students, reports the New York Post. Residents of the Spanish Town Officially Change Name From ‘Camp Kill Jews’

The year-long process including a referendum and regional gov’t approval, finally brings an end to the controversy of the Spanish hamlet’s 400 yr-old offensive name.

The Spanish village of Castrillo Matajudios – which means “Camp Kill Jews” – on Monday officially changed its name to Castrillo Mota de Judios (“Jews’ Hill Camp”) following a referendum and regional government approval.

A vote by residents of the town in May 2014 went 29-19 in favor of scrapping the name, which has been in existence since at least 1623.

Surge in French Jews Escaping Local Antisemitic Terror, Finding Refuge in Israel

A mere 5 months after the last antisemitic terror-attack in Paris, a surge of 25% more French Jews moved to Israel, compared to the same period in 2014.

Faced with blistering criticism over objecting to the presence of the Star of David on a monument dedicated to Holocaust victims, the mayor of Kavala, in northern Greece, told protesters that the dedication ceremony, originally set for this Sunday, will take place “very soon.”

How does the Palestinian Authority (PA) education system look? A broadcast aired on official PA TV this Sunday and Wednesday gave an in-depth look at how children are being exposed to arts, theater – along with boycotting Israel and “killing Jews.”

In a broadcast from a school in Hevron holding a theater contest that was meant to use “culture” to teach children to boycott Israeli products, a boy interviewed said “I came to rehearse the play in order to boycott Israeli products and fight the Jews, kill them, and defeat them,” as translated by Palestinian Media Watch (PMW).

Turkish governor threatens to discontinue Jewish prayer after synagogue completes renovation

Governor of Turkish city Edirne threatened to turn synagogue into museum after renovations, saying it was unfair for Turkey to fund Jewish place of worship if Israel was denying Muslims access to their holy sites in Jerusalem.

The governor of the Turkish city Edirne was under pressure on Saturday, after allegedly saying local Jews would not be able to use a synagogue there because of Israel’s actions at Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.

Austrian news magazine reports of a Vienna school board investigation of a private institution known as ‘Saudi School’, for teaching what the magazine calls “a smorgasbord of conspiracy theories & incitement against Jews, Israelis & divergent Muslims.”

Swedish man severely beaten with iron pipes for displaying Israeli flag by window

After thorough investigation, local Police suspect that the attack against the 38-year-old, in the Swedish city of Malmö, was a hate crime, reported The Local, Sweden’s English language website.

A man was severely assaulted in the Swedish city of Malmö on Sunday night after hanging an Israeli flag out of his window, according to local media reports.

Police suspect that the attack against the 38-year-old was a hate crime, The Local website reported. “Our initial evaluation is that this is a hate crime,” policewoman Marie Keismar said.

Arab League representatives at African Union Summit demanded the ‘Israelis’ leave, meaning the American Jews, before joining summit opening ceremony.

The opening ceremony for the 23rd African Union Summit in Malabo was to begin Thursday with a declaration of support for the three kidnapped Israeli teens by a number of participants, until bad blood brought tensions to a boil.

Spanish town with ‘Kill Jews’ in its name votes to change it

 

 

The Spanish village’s 56 registered voters have marked May 25 as the day to decide whether to keep the name or revert to its original name.

Researchers believe Jewish residents that converted to Catholicism, changed the name to convince Spaniards they opposed Jews.

The tiny Spanish village of Castrillo Matajudios, the second word of which means “Kill Jews,” will hold a referendum next month to decide if it should change its name, which offends outsiders and embarrasses some residents, its mayor said Tuesday.
