California’s Governor Brown signs into law new anti-BDS bill 

 

Jewish advocacy group admits the new California law that officially blocks state-contracted companies from engaging in any anti-Israel boycott, divestment or sanctions activities, sends an unmistakable message: California wants no part of the BDS movement’s tactics.

California Governor Jerry Brown on Saturday signed into law a bill targeting the anti-Israel boycott, divestment and sanctions movement, effectively barring state-contracted companies from pursuing any discriminatory practices when dealing with Israel, Israeli companies or Israeli-made products.

Police eject dozens of anti-Israel protesters from disrupting NYC hearing on BDS

 

#BDSfail: Dozens of disruptive pro-Palestinian activists were ejected by NYPD officers from a hearing supporting a resolution that condemns the BDS movement, which targets “academic, cultural, and civil society institutions, as well as individual Israeli citizens.”

Police ejected dozens of people on Thursday from a New York City Council hearing on a resolution condemning the movement to boycott Israel, local media reported.

Demonstrators repeatedly interrupted the meeting on the nonbinding resolution that censures “all efforts to delegitimize the state of Israel and the global movement to boycott, divest from, and sanction the people of Israel.”

#BDSfail: California state Assembly passed anti-BDS bill

 

In a major move to stop singling out just Israel, the California Combating BDS Act of 2016 was “overwhelmingly passed” in the state Assembly by the unanimous vote of 60-0.

The State of California dealt another blow to the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) Movement Wednesday following the passage of a bill aimed at hampering businesses from participating in “discriminatory boycotts” against Israel, according to weekly publication The Jewish Journal.

#BDSfail: UC Irvine sanctions Palestinian group for disrupting Jewish campus event

Students for Justice in Palestine received a formal written warning for disrupting a Jewish campus group event and intimidating the Jewish students with threatening chants.

The University of California, Irvine, has sanctioned an anti-Israel group for disrupting a program hosted by a Jewish campus group and intimidating Jewish students.

#BDSfail: California follows New Jersey’s lead, passes anti-BDS law

 

This newest legislation, the second of its kind, prohibits all State of California bodies from maintaining ties with organizations (BDS) intended to penalize, inflict economic harm on, or otherwise limit commercial relations by singling out only the State of Israel.

The Israeli American Council marked a significant achievement this week when the California legislator passed a bill barring all state bodies, including universities, from maintaining ties with organizations that support anti-Israel boycott, divestment and sanctions activities, Israel Hayom learned Thursday.

PLO chief livid as Europe fails to back BDS, gives empty support for Palestinian cause

 

#BDSfail: Erekat sends op-ed to Newsweek expressing his ‘astonishment’ at European officials now opposing the anti-Israel BDS movement, demanding that the EU issue fresh statements reversing such positions.

Saeb Erekat, the Palestinian Authority’s chief “peace” negotiator and current secretary-general of the PLO terrorist organization, lashed out this week over Europe’s failure to more substantially support efforts to boycott Israel.

Erekat penned an op-ed for Newsweek in which he asserted that the Palestinians were “astonished” by recent statements by European officials opposing the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

The Palestinian official was shocked that European leaders had recently praised Israel’s human rights record, tacitly approved the import of Jewish “settler” products, and, at least in the UK, taken steps to criminalize boycotts against Israel.

#BDSfail: NYU Graduate Student Union’s pro-BDS resolution nullified as illicit

 

The student group’s BDS resolution is indeed “contrary to the position of the International Union” and is void of “force or effect,” said the group’s parent union.

 

NEW YORK – Two months after the Graduate Student Union at New York University voted to join the Boycott Divest and Sanction movement against Israel, the decision was repealed this week by the group’s parent union, the United Auto Workers (UAW). #BDSfail: Germany’s second largest bank shuts down anti-Israel BDS account

 

Israel’s Security Minister Erdan urges European banks to follow Germany’s closure of the anti-Israel account because of BDS activity, which is believed to be the 1st German bank taking such action to stop the movement.

 

BERLIN – in the latest of a series of similar account closures by international banks, German bank Commerzbank has shut down a boycott Israel account, the first action of its kind in that country, The Jerusalem Post has learned.

Swiss parliament to end funding “racist & anti-Semitic actions” or are involved in BDS

The front-page story by veteran journalist Dominik Feusi, headlined “Resistance in Parliament against money for Israel-critical campaigns,” stated that MP Christian Imark had introduced a motion supported by 41 lawmakers from across the political spectrum calling on the FDFA to stop all direct or indirect funding to organizations that sponsor “racist and anti-Semitic actions” or are involved in BDS campaigns.
