Islamic Jihad leader Dr. Ramadan Abdullah Shalah is no stranger to controversy, and last week whipped up a fresh batch with his contention that Jews love Jerusalem more than Muslims do, Army Radio reported on Monday.

Speaking at a religious conference in Tehran last week, Shalah’s unexpected contention was not meant as rare praise for the Jews’ religious devotion. Iranian defense minister praises Islamic Jihad’s 150 rockets fired from Gaza on Israel, claiming the group’s missile capabilities are now greater than ever.

Iran’s defense minister on Saturday commended Palestinian organizations in the Gaza Strip for firing dozens of rockets into southern Israel last week, stating that  “the operational power of the Resistance against the Zionist regime is a thousand times more than what it was before.”

Sporadic rocket fire from the Gaza Strip fell in southern Israel on Thursday evening hours after the Islamic Jihad claimed that Egypt had brokered a ceasefire to end two days of hostilities that has seen nearly 70 rockets fall in the South.

IAF Jets Hit More Terror Targets in 2nd Round of Retaliatory Strikes in Gaza

Amid Israeli calls to go in and retake Gaza, Air Force Jets hit additional targets following latest round of Gaza’s rocket fire, as Islamic Jihad claims Egypt brokered a ceasefire.

The Air Force hit several terror targets in Gaza on Thursday afternoon, following a wave of rocket attacks on southern Israel on Thursday morning.

IAF commanders reported that all warplanes involved had returned safely to their bases.

“The IDF will not tolerate any attempt to harm Israel’s citizens or soldiers, and will continue to take determined action against any party that uses terrorism against the state of Israel,” IDF spokespeople said. Continue Reading »

Israeli Air Force Pounds 29 Gaza Targets After Palestinian Missile Onslaught

The Israeli Air Force struck 29 terror targets belonging to Islamic Jihad and Hamas in Gaza on Wednesday evening as retaliation for firing a barrage of over 60 rockets on Jewish communities in southern Israel, the IDF announced Wednesday.

Security forces have arrested 14 members of an Islamic Jihad terrorist group from Bethlehem who is suspected of blowing up a bus in Bat Yam last month, it was cleared for publication on Thursday.

The passengers of the bus narrowly escaped the December 22 bombing when an alert passenger informed the driver of a suspected package on the bus.

Despite the relative quiet in the Gazan arena, much is taking place there. Hamas is entrenching itself further as the sovereign, and rearming itself with rockets. It once again has thousands of short-range rockets – around 5,000 of them – and possesses medium-range rockets which can strike greater Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Egyptian security close Gaza border crossing

In response to the abduction of 7 members of the Egyptian security forces by Islamist gunmen, Egyptian police-officers lock & block the gates at the border crossing to Gaza.

In the meantime, hundreds of Palestinians are stranded on both sides.

Sunni cleric calls on Lebanese Youth for ‘Jihad’ Against Hizbullah

Sunni cleric Ahmad Assir, said it was a “a religious duty” for Sunni followers to join “armed Jihad in Syria” against the Hizbullah & Syrian regime.

The Shin Bet and Israel Police last month uncovered an Islamic Jihad cell suspected of plotting to kidnap an Israeli soldier or civilian, it emerged on Sunday after a gag order on the case was lifted.

Abu Sharif stressed that the recent popular uprisings in the region have harmed the interests of Israel, according to the Iran’s controlled Fars News Agency.
