Like ISIS, Palestinians continue to destroy ancient artifacts that isn’t Islamic

Just mere meters outside of Israeli-controlled territory, King Herod’s grand Third Palace is being systematically destroyed by the Palestinians, who are stripping its stone and building homes around it, and the Israeli government can do nothing to stop it.

Here is a lesson that teaches us how the Palestinians today treat remnants of the past. Following the revolt led by Mattityahu and his sons (the Macabbees) against the Greeks in 167 BCE, Jews had sovereignty in the Land of Israel for some 200 years, until the Herodian era. Forty years after Mattiyahu the Hasmonean and his sons first relit the Temple menorah and found that its oil miraculously lasted eight days, their descendants built grand winter palaces at the mouth of the Parat stream, at the entrance to Jericho. Antiquities thieves vandalize burial site, skeletons at ancient Judean Desert fortress

The desecrated cave, at one of the seven Hasmonean fortresses ordered built by King Herod to protect the eastern border of the Judean Kingdom, came under attack by antiquities robbers since they’re unprotected due to a systematic lack of funding.

Tomb raiders recently destroyed human skulls and skeletal remains buried in a mysterious cave near the ancient Hasmonean fortress of Horkania in the northern Judean Desert between Jericho and the Dead Sea.

The fortress, believed to have been constructed around 120 BCE by its namesake, John Hyrcanus, was one of seven ordered built by King Herod to protect the eastern border of the Judean Kingdom from the Edomites and other enemies. Continue Reading »

3 Palestinians arrested: More Jewish History Being Stolen by Palestinians

 

The 12-centimeter high sculpture of King Herod’s lover Mariamne, also known as Miriam in Hebrew, valued at nearly a million dollars, was confiscated by the Palestinian Authority who claim it as ‘Palestinian culture’.

The Palestinian Preventive Security Services (PPS) arrested Monday night three Palestinians who tried to smuggle an ancient statue of King Herod’s lover from the West Bank city of Tulkarm into Israel.

A statement released by the PPS following the incident read: “Based on intelligence information, security forces burst on Sunday into a home in Zeita, a village in north Tulkarm, and carried out a complicated security operation, during which they arrested three archaeologists and confiscated the statue.” Continue Reading »

2,000 yr-old Herodian Palace Entryway Unearthed in Judea

A multi-arched entry to a Herodian Hilltop Palace was excavated revealing how the palace was later transformed into Herod’s memorial; also additional evidence of the Jewish revolts were found on the site.

Hebrew University of Jerusalem archaeologists have discovered a massive and elaborate entryway to the Herodian Hilltop Palace at Herodium National Park in Judea, south of Jerusalem.

The newly discovered entryway is remarkable in that it features a complex system of arches on three separate levels, allowing the King and his entourage to directly enter the Palace Courtyard. Thanks to the arches, the 20-meter long and six-meter wide corridor has held up over the nearly 2,000 years since it was built at a height of 20 meters.
