Syrian Report: IDF gunships fired missiles at Hezbollah in Golan Heights

Syrian media reported that on Thursday night, the second attack within a week, Israeli helicopters from Israel’s side of the Golan Heights, launched an air strike on Hezbollah targets in the Quneitra region.

Syrian television reported on Thursday night that Israeli aircraft attacked several targets in southern Syria with missiles.

A radio station affiliated with the Syrian regime said that the attack had taken place in the Quneitra area. There were no reports of injuries, only of damage to property.

Syrian state news agency reports Israeli missile struck Quneitra

The state run news agency reported an attack on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights Thursday; striking a village and causing only material damages with no reports of casualties.

An Israeli missile hit a village in the Kuneitra countryside in Syria’s Golan Heights near the frontier between the two countries on Thursday, Syrian state media said.

State news agency SANA described it as “an Israeli attack” that caused only material damages.

REPORT: Israeli tank struck Syrian observation post in Quneitra

According to the Syrian state news agency SANA on Monday morning, an Israeli tank fired “with a number of shells,” on a hospital and observation post in Quneitra, near the Golan Heights border with Israel.

An Israeli tank struck Syrian territory in Quneitra, near the Golan Heights border, Syrian state news agency SANA said on Monday, without providing refuter details.

The media outlet cited its own reporter, who said the strikes caused “material damage” and nothing further.

2 wounded UN peacekeepers from errant mortar strike inside Syria treated in Israel

In apparent spillover from ongoing civil war, 2 wounded UNDOF peacekeepers stationed in Quneitra, a man & a woman from Nepal, were sent to an Israeli hospital for treatment.

Two United Nations peacekeepers stationed on the Israel-Syria border in the Golan Heights were wounded on Monday when a mortar shell struck their position in Quneitra.

It is believed the mortar fire was spillover from the ongoing civil war inside Syria.

IDF Soldier Wounded in the Golan By Stray Gunfire From Syria

Stray gunfire from Syria wounded an Israeli soldier in the Golan Heights on Monday, the army said.

“An IDF (Israel Defense Forces) soldier was injured by errant fire from internal fighting in Syria. He was evacuated to hospital,” an army statement said, without elaborating.

The soldier is reportedly from the Armored Corps., which is currently stationed along the Israeli-Syrian border.

IDF sources told Arutz Sheva Monday that the gunfire surfaces after a full day of quiet along the border, with no shots or explosions heard on the Syrian side. Continue Reading »

Israel Downs UAV Near Syria Border

 

IDF spokesman says drone downed with Patriot missile by the IAF, appeared to have belonged to Syria’s military & had flown inadvertently into Israeli airspace.

The IAF fired a  Sunday afternoon, shooting down an unmanned aerial vehicle that strayed into Israeli airspace from neighboring Syria, the IDF said.

The IDF said the incident occurred near Quneitra in the Syrian Golan Heights, the scene of heavy fighting between Syrian government troops and rebels.

The Israeli Air Force (IAF) bombed several terror targets in the city of Quneitra, Syria overnight Tuesday, following a volley of rockets on the Golan Heights, Syrian media reported.

Between four and twelve people were killed in the airstrike; exact numbers have varied among news outlets.

Fiji troops replaced UN Austrian peacekeepers who fled from the Golan

Nearly 170 Fiji  soldiers to join UNDOF on Israel-Syria border after Austria’s soldiers withdrew before replacements took over.

The United Nations announced Monday that 170 peacekeepers from Fiji will join the UN’s Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) stationed on the IsraelSyria border by the end of the month.

They will be replacing Austrian forces who have pulled out of the area following an escalation in the fighting between Assad’s forces and the rebels.

The Austrian troops left the Golan Heights area last week. Austria’s dramatic decision to withdraw from the area led the UN’s Security Council to harshly condemn the spread of violence to the demilitarized buffer zone. Continue Reading »

In an interview to the Hezbollah affiliated Al Mayadeen network, Bouthaina Shaaban, the top political and media adviser to Syrian President Bashar Assad, claimed that the injured transferred to Israel during the fighting in Quneitra were Israeli soldiers and not rebels, which she called “armed gangs”.

According to assessments, hundreds of dunams have gone up in flames, some of which have come near the IDF’s Golan positions.
