PA chief negotiator Erekat demonstrates Palestinians flimsy grasp of democracy

 

Palestinian officials have repeatedly claimed Netanyahu is the one opposing peace on Arab terms (returning to ’67 lines, releasing prisoners, permitting 5.5 mil Arab ‘refugees’ to return to Israel instead of moving to Palestine).

Apparently, Erekat has failed to grasp that Israel is an actual democracy state, where its leader speaks for those who put him in office.

UK security unit reports London Jihadist attack signifies no special risk for Jews

German FM Tells President Peres: Nuclear-armed Iran is not an option

Germany’s FM Westerwelle met with President Peres in Jerusalem and voices his support for U.S. Sec. of St. Kerry’s effort to renew the Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.

 

German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle met with Israeli President Shimon Peres in Jerusalem on Friday, and said that Iranian nuclear weapons “are not an option for Germany.”

Pope Francis accepts President Peres’ invitation to visit Jerusalem

The Vatican’s new pontiff accepted an invitation by Israeli President Shimon Peres to visit Israel ‘with willingness & joy,’ says spokesman.

The pope accepted the invitation “with willingness and joy,” a Vatican spokesman said, but there was no indication when a trip would be made.

“I am expecting you in Jerusalem, not just me but the whole country of Israel,” Peres told the pope in the presence of reporters after 30 minutes of private talks in the Vatican’s Apostolic Palace. Continue Reading »

President Shimon Peres approved Thursday the release of Palestinian security prisoner Mohammed al-Taj, in accordance with Justice Minister Tzipi Livni and the security echelon’s advice.

Hospitalized in a Prison Service medical facility, Al-Taj will be released due to medical reasons. Upon his release, he will be taken for further treatment in Ramallah, the Maan Palestinian news agency reported.

Al-Taj has served until now about two-thirds of his prison term. “The decision to release him was made for humanitarian reasons, since the prisoner is ill with a very serious disease,” said the president’s statement on the matter. Continue Reading »

Highly acclaimed Jewish singer/actor will wrap up European tour at Tel Aviv’s Bloomfield Stadium.

People who need Barbra Streisand are apparently the luckiest people in Israel.

Ending weeks of unconfirmed speculation, the iconic songstress/actress/diva has announced that she will perform for the first time ever in the country on June 20 at Bloomfield Stadium in Jaffa.

Accompanied by a 60- piece orchestra, the 70-yearold Streisand will end a select tour of Europe with the show at the stadium which holds 16,000 spectators.

Two days earlier, she is expected to perform privately at the Presidential Conference in Jerusalem in honor of President Shimon Peres’s birthday. Continue Reading »

Aynaw who is 21-years-old and a former Israeli army officer became the first Ethiopian-born Israeli to win the pageant.

At EU, Peres asks them to recognize Hezbollah as terror organization

In speech to the European Parliament Tuesday morning, Shimon Peres warns that time is running out to curtail Iran’s nuclear ambitions and went on stressing the need of ensuring Syrian biological weapons don’t fall into the hands of terrorist groups.

Naftali Bennett, who heads the Bayit Yehudi (merged Jewish Home-National Union) slate of Knesset candidates, reminded President Shimon Peres Monday that the Oslo Accords “brought us more than 1,600 murdered Israelis.”

Responding to the President’s controversial remarks on political issues in the middle of the election campaign, Bennett stated, “Enough, already. The President of the country is supposed to represent all of the country, not just a part of it.”

The 8,500 square foot institution cost millions of dollars to build and develop, and is the first to tell the “inside story” of the Jewish experience. While Israel’s Diaspora Museum has many exhibits preserving the memory of Jewish communities around the world, the Tolerance Museum takes a more “personal” approach, telling the story of Jewish faith throughout the ages, the Creation of the world, the giving of the Torah, the Holy Temples, and Jewish suffering in the Exile.
