Twitter helps Facebook disable 783 Iran-linked accounts

The bogus Facebook accounts that were focused on Israel were run by misrepresented Iranian sources highlighting the Palestinian issue and undermining Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s credibility.

Facebook said Thursday it has removed 783 Iran-linked pages, accounts and groups from its service for what it called “coordinated inauthentic behavior.” That’s the social network’s term for fake accounts run with the intent of disrupting politics and elections.

Facebook has been disclosing such purges more regularly in recent months, including ones linked to groups in Myanmar, Bangladesh and Russia.

Facebook, Twitter delete hundreds of fake Iranian & Russian accounts

Amid worries of foreign attempts to influence U.S. midterm elections, Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms have remove hundreds of accounts used to push Iranian and Russian agendas, citing, “coordinated inauthentic behavior” and “manipulation.”

Facebook, Twitter and Alphabet have collectively removed ‎hundreds of accounts tied to Russian and Iranian ‎users that cybersecurity firm FireEye‎ said were ‎promoting Russia’s and Iran’s ‎geopolitical agendas around the world.‎

Unofficial Al-Jazeera/Twitter query reflects Arabs support Israel over Iran in war

In an unofficial poll on Twitter, an Al-Jazeera media personality asked his 5 million followers in Arabic, who they’d support if war broke out between Israel and Iran. Surprisingly, it showed most Arabs supporting Israel.

In an unofficial, unscientific survey, a firm majority of respondents from across the Arab Middle East said they would back Israel in a war against Iran and its proxies in Syria.

The poll was conducted on Twitter by Faisal al-Kasim, an Al-Jazeera host who is one of the most influential TV media personalities in the Arab world.

REPORT: Couscous salad aboard Virgin Atlantic Airlines turns into social media war

According to a BBC report, a salad on the airline’s menu described as, “Inspired by the flavors of Palestine,” breaks out into an Israeli-Palestinian proxy war on Twitter.

After the airline Virgin Atlantic described a couscous-style salad on its menu as “inspired by the flavors of Palestine,” pro-Israel activists took to social media and called for a boycott of the airline, according to a report by the BBC.

The airline agreed to remove the terms, but when the news broke on February 11 it outraged pro-Palestinian activists and sparked a wave of online reactions.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry’s Arabic Twitter poll found 57% of Arabs wanted to visit Israel

During the 24-hours the survey was posted on Israel’s Foreign Ministry’s Arabic Twitter page, hundreds responded with most showing interest in visiting Israel, while some expressed their disdain with Israel.

An international survey in Arabic by Israel’s Foreign Ministry this week drew thousands of responses and found that a majority of respondents, 57%, expressed interest in visiting Israel.

REPORT: White House to review ‘aid’ payments to Palestinians

Senior administration official says the White House on Friday will be looking into cutting its financial aid to Abbas’ Palestinian Authority, following President Trump’s tweets on the issue.

The White House is actively looking at cutting aid to the Palestinian Authority, and is expected to hold a discussion on the matter on Friday, a senior administration official told Haaretz on Thursday night.

The move follows President Donald Trump’s tweets earlier this week in which he expressed doubt over the usefulness of American aid to the Palestinians, given their refusal to resume peace talks with Israel.

Al Jazeera Media Network, tweeted a bizarre post invoking anti-Semitic canards blaming ‘Talmudic plan of world domination’ for global warming skepticism.

One of the world’s largest news media outlets has come under fire for its use of an anti-Semitic caricature and anti-Jewish canard in a Twitter post condemning climate change skeptics.

Al Jazeera English, a member of the Qatar-based Al Jazeera Media Network, tweeted Wednesday night a bizarre post invoking Protocols of the Elders of Zion-style anti-Semitic canards in a critique of people skeptical of man-made global warming.

Survey: Twitter tops list of social networks with most antisemitic content

 

A study conducted throughout 2016, which was commissioned by the World Jewish Congress, found Twitter particularly reluctant in complying with European legislation, allowing it to lead with most antisemitic posts among most popular social media platforms.

Twitter emerged as the social network with the most antisemitic content in a comprehensive analysis of the prevalence on such platforms of expressions of hatred of Jews.

The study, commissioned by the World Jewish Congress, was conducted throughout 2016.


Nearly two thirds of 382,000 posts deemed antisemitic in the World Jewish Congress study appeared on Twitter, followed by 11 percent that were posted to Facebook, 6 percent on Instagram and 2 percent on YouTube. Continue Reading »

Arab firestorm erupts on Twitter after Tzipi Livni posted photo with Saudi Prince

 

After talking peace at the World Economic Forum in Davos, former Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni posted a friendly photo on Twitter that causes an explosion of hatred from Arab social media users & Arab commentators.

All those Arabs who claim to want peace were in an uproar this week after Saudi Prince Turki al-Faisal acted peacefully toward former Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni.

The two were in Davos, Switzerland for the World Economic Forum. They participated in a panel, along with Jordan’s foreign minister, regarding the future of the Middle East.
