Jerusalem Court: UN barred from illegal construction, theft of state land

The Jerusalem District Court accepted Regavim’s contention of illegal land appropriation and unlicensed construction projects by the United Nations, halting all work at the UN compound until approved by the State.
– Petitioner’s attorney: “The diplomatic immunity of the UN does not allow it to violate the laws of the host country.”

By Orli Harari

The Jerusalem District Court ruled this week that until a coordination mechanism is established between the state and the UN, the UN will not begin any work at a compound in the neighborhood of Armon Hanatziv.

A petition submitted by the Regavim organization in March 2017 revealed that the UN had committed a large number of building offenses in the Armon Hanatziv compound and that it had invaded acres of state land beyond the area allocated to it by the State of Israel. Continue Reading »

UN agency places blame on Israel for failed Palestinian economy

Based on “speculation and a non-scientific ‘what-if’ logic,” the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development published a report that blames Israeli military rule on the failed Palestinian economy, ignoring rampant corruption throughout the PA & Hamas governments, inept leadership, misappropriation of humanitarian aid for terror-tunnel construction, and laws deterring cooperation with Israelis.

By MAX SCHINDLER

By Shlomo Cesana

On the Palestinians & terror, by Golda Meir, the 4th Prime Minister of Israel

A ‘must read’: This immutable New York Times op-ed, penned by then Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir, is still accurate, as it was when published 41 years ago.

By Golda Meir, the 4th Prime Minister of Israel

January 14, 1976

To be misquoted is an occupational hazard of political leadership; for this reason I should like to clarify my position in regard to the Palestinian issue. I have been charged with being rigidly insensitive to the question of the Palestinian Arabs. In evidence of this I am supposed to have said, “There are no Palestinians.” My actual words were: “There is no Palestinian people. Continue Reading »

In Palestinian political chess with Trump, Abbas seeks full UN state membership at UNSC

In latest diplomatic game of tit-for-tat, Palestinian chairman Abbas sets his cohorts to the UN Security Council seeking to upgrade their non-state status at the UN, knowing the expected US veto will render their efforts theatrical at best.

By Itamar Eichner

The Palestinians are planning to ask the UN Security Council to upgrade their status from a non-member observer state to a full member state with voting rights at the United Nations.

The Palestinian move is the latest in a diplomatic war that was sparked by US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, escalated when the Palestinians pushed for the adoption of a UN General Assembly resolution rejecting the American declaration, and recently culminated in US threats to cut funding for the Palestinian Authority and the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). By Itamar Eichner

Israel purchased a sewage treatment system for Nauru, a tiny island nation in the Pacific Ocean, only two weeks before the country voted against a UN General Assembly resolution criticizing the US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Sour Grapes: Arab Knesset Member laments UN’s celebration of Israel’s independence

Israeli Arab parliamentarian, MK Ahmad Tibi exploits platform at the UN to censure Israel for celebrating the 1947 Partition Plan that subsequently led to its independence.

By Itamar Eichner

MK Ahmad Tibi (Joint List) attacked Israel and a UN-held celebration of the 1947 Partition Plan vote which led to Israel’s Declaration of Independence, saying it is hypocritical of the state to celebrate such an event while denying Palestinians independence.

Speaking at a United Nations convention held in observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Tibi panned Israel for what he says are discriminatory acts.

“Instead of working for equality, peace and acceptance of the other, the Israeli government promotes the Nationality Bill that speaks of self-determination only for Jews and establishes communities without Arabs,” said Tibi, adding that “the Joint List is working together with democratic Jews against the flood of these laws in order to bring about a better life.” Continue Reading »

UN poised to begin formal boycott of Israel, move guaranteed to spur anti-Semitism

The United Nations continues playing to the anti-Zionist narrative, initiated by the Palestinians, and with full backing of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which control most of the UN’s NGOs and committees.

An upcoming “blacklist” of major international companies with business ties to Israeli communities in Judea, Samaria, the Golan Heights and eastern Jerusalem represents yet another attempt by anti-Israel actors in the United Nations to single out and demonize the world’s only Jewish state, experts say.

The U.N. Human Rights Council (UNHRC) had voted to approve the database of businesses last year, defying objections from the U.S. Continue Reading »

Palestinian plot to circumvent Trump and Congress at the UN for additional funding

With bad press exposing extrajudicial killings in Gaza and Abbas’ ‘Pay for Slay’ to reward those who murder Israelis, Trump and congress are debating funding cuts, but the Arabs have a found a way to do an end-run around Congress and get even more than the $380,593,116 it got in 2015 – by having the UN decide how much.
– BTW, next in line, the EU gave less than half of that to the Palestinians, with a ‘mere’ $136,751,943.

By Reuters and Israel Hayom Staff

U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley on Tuesday took some lawmakers by surprise when she seemed to assert that the Trump administration’s policy was to prevent any Palestinians from serving in U.N. positions unless and until the U.S. recognizes an independent Palestinian state.
