UN Security Council ‘reminds’ Israel that Golan status “remains unchanged”

In response to Netanyahu’s declaration Israel would never vacate the Golan, UNSC felt the need to remind Jerusalem that ‘the status of the Golan remains unchanged’ & Israeli annexation of the plateau is ‘null & void and without int’l legal effect.’

UNITED NATIONS – The United Nations Security Council on Tuesday voiced alarm over Israeli cities and towns about the Golan Heights on Syria’s border with Israel, adding that its status remains unchanged.

REPORT: Palestinians circulating UNSC draft resolution condemning settlements & Jewish settlers

 

With tension as they are between Obama & Netanyahu, Israel fears the POTUS will not veto the Palestinian’s resolution calling for settlement construction in Judea, Samaria & Jerusalem to stop  while also condemning “settler violence.”

The Palestinian Authority this week began distributing a draft UN Security Council resolution condemning Israeli construction of settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem and demanding that it be ended, Israeli daily Haaretz reported Thursday.

WSJ Report: Obama considers initiating UN resolution to restart peace process

US President Barack Obama’s administration is considering a United Nations Security Council resolution to serve as a blueprint for Israeli-Palestinian talks, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday. The US has repeatedly vetoed such resolutions in the past.

UN Security Council to receive PA resolution to end Israeli ‘occupation’

PA Foreign Minister said the PA is working to convince the US to blacklist settler groups as terror organizations, adding occupation is the “worst form of terrorism.”

US envoy Defends Israel at UN: Listing Israel with Boko Haram, ISIS ‘is fundamentally wrong’

At an open UNSC meeting US Envoy for Special Political Affairs David Pressman said, “The idea that the gov’t of Israel, as some have suggested, would be listed on the same page as ISIS, Boko Haram or Syria, is factually & fundamentally wrong.”

 

The United States strongly condemned countries, diplomats and UN officials seeking to compare Israel with Islamic State in a speech that its envoy to the United Nations gave to the Security Council in New York on Thursday.

Report: Iran flexing its regional muscles having Hezbollah & Syria attack Israel

France moves to restart a UN Security Council resolution to renew deadlocked Israeli-Palestinian peace prospects.

France plans to begin talks at the United Nations on a new Security Council resolution to revive Israeli-Palestinian peace prospects, Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said Friday, according to the AFP news agency.

Fabius told reporters at UN headquarters in New York that discussions on a text would start “in the coming days.”

The Security Council in December rejected a resolution that would have set a deadline for reaching a final peace deal and pave the way to the creation of a Palestinian state.

Martin Indyk: US part of int’l community to force UN Security Council Resolution on Israel

 

 

Former envoy to peace talks Martin Indyk, suggests the US would be facilitator of a pro-Palestinian resolution that would “lay out & preserve the principles of a 2-state solution in the future.”

 

If a government emerges after the election that does not launch a diplomatic initiative or opposes a Palestinian state, Israel will likely face a UN Security Council resolution proposed by all permanent members designed to “lay out the principles of a two state solution,” Martin Indyk said Monday.

Britain joined the United States and Israel on Tuesday, lashing out against a toughly worded Palestinian statehood resolution submitted to the UN Security Council, Reuters reported.

PA Foreign Minister Reports UN Resolution to be Put Off Until 2015

Palestinian Authority FM reveals Arab League ambassadors mulling unilateral resolution demanding Israel’s withdrawal & UN recognition is likely to be postponed yet again.

The council of Arab UN ambassadors gathered on Monday to discuss the Palestinian Authority (PA) resolution set to be proposed at the UN Security Council, unilaterally demanding recognition and Israeli withdrawals – however, the vote on the resolution set for Monday looks to be postponed yet again.

Last Friday PA chief negotiator Saeb Erekat announced that the vote would be held that day, or at the latest this Monday. But according to PA foreign minister Riyad Al-Maliki, the vote doesn’t seem likely until the new year begins.

The United Nations Security Council has strongly condemned yesterday’s “despicable terrorist attack” in a synagogue in Jerusalem, resulting in the murder of four innocent civilians worshiping there and a police officer, as well as the injury of many more.
