Israel’s Member of Knesset Kara: Druze are Descended from Jews

The secret is out, says Druze MK : “The Druze are actually descended from the Jewish people, and genetic evidence proves it.”

By David Lev

For centuries, practitioners of the Druze religion took care not to reveal any information about the nature of their beliefs, rituals, and traditions. Under penalty of communal ostracism, or worse, members of Druze communities have refrained from telling any outsider more than basic details about their religion.

But now, the secret is out. Druze MK Ayoub Kara (Likud) says members of the Druze communities believe in many of the same things that Jews do. And that’s not surprising, he adds, since the Druze are actually descended from the Jewish people – and he says he can bring genetic evidence to prove it. Continue Reading »

Hezbollah terrorists stick to the same formula

All of the Hezbollah’s targets have met the same criteria in Georgia, Azerbaijan, Thailand, and most recently, Kenya and Cyprus. All of these countries are easy to enter & exit.

By Yoav Limor

Israel’s official spokespeople were unanimous on Thursday: Hezbollah is responsible for the terror attack in Bulgaria. These resolute words were meant not only to pin responsibility on the terror organization, but to try to dissuade it from future attacks.

What led Israel to this conclusion was its accumulated expertise, experience, circumstantial evidence and a smidgen of intelligence. Israel’s conclusion, based on its experience in recent years relentlessly pursuing terrorists on many continents and in many countries, is that the terrorists employed the same methods that they use almost every time.

Study reveals the Sum of all fears: Arabs read an average of 6 pages a year

An Arab League study of readers by nations, the United Arab Emirates placed 5th behind Bahrain, Egypt, Morocco & Iraq. In the UAE, just 22% of people described themselves as regular readers.

By Ikram al-Yacoub/Al Arabiya

There are some readers for whom obtaining a first edition copy of their favorite book or author is of great import and this is evidenced by people standing in long lines to get their hands on new books. While this may be a common site in the West, many believe this is not the case in the Arab world.

Arab Thought Foundation’s Fikr released its fourth annual cultural development report that said an Arab individual on average reads a quarter of a page a year compared to the 11 books read by an American and seven books by a British person. (Reuters)

There is a common perception too about the number of Arabs that frequent libraries.

Are the Palestinian Christians in the Gaza Strip really being kidnapped by Muslims who force them to convert to Islam?

According to the Greek Orthodox Church in the Gaza Strip, at least five Christians have been kidnapped and forced to convert to Islam in recent weeks.

If anyone has good reason to fear for his life it is Archbishop Alexios, head of the Greek Church in the Gaza Strip, who is spearheading the protests against persecution of Christians and forced conversions. Continue Reading »

Eyes focused on the north, on alert for a casus belli

Israel’s defense establishment has explicitly warned that any transfer of chemical weapons, anti-aircraft systems or long-range missiles from Syria to Lebanon would be a cause for war.

Yoav Limor

The twin bombings on Wednesday – targeting the top echelon of the Syrian regime in Damascus and an Israeli tour bus in Burgas – could force Israel to make a difficult decision, possibly even in coming days, on whether to launch a retaliatory offensive against Lebanon. That is precisely what senior defense officials will be discussing Thursday when they convene at the Defense Ministry headquarters in Tel Aviv. The topic will be a clear and immediate concern over the potential collapse of the Syrian regime and the consequent transfer of advanced weapons to Lebanon.
