Israeli Camara-Pill to Replace Dreaded Colonoscopy
Set to replace colonoscopies with ‘PillCam’ technology, an Israeli company has received FDA approval & also just entered the Japanese market.

In August Given Imaging, an Israeli medical technology company, received FDA approval for their Pill Cam SB3 which will potentially replace colonoscopies in screening for colorectal cancer.

Furthermore, the company announced Monday that Japan’s Central Social Insurance Medical Council has approved reimbursement for Given Imaging’s PillCam COLON, according to The Wall Street Journal.
While men and women over 50 are advised to have a colonoscopy every 10 years, No Camels – Israel Innovation News notes that some studies show 50% of Americans over 50 forgo the procedure due to its uncomfortable nature. Continue Reading »

Syrian troops clashed with rebels in a mountainous western region Saturday in what appeared to be an offensive to cut an opposition supply route from Lebanon, forcing hundreds to flee for safety across the border, activists and officials said.

The fighting was concentrated in the rugged Qalamoun region around the towns of Qara, Rima and Nabak, activists and state media said.
Israeli medical personnel delivered 12 babies in the Philippines
The 12 babies, most premature, were delivered in Israel’s field hospital. The newborns are being cared for in incubators brought by the IDF as part of their field hospital.
JERUSALEM — At least 12 babies, most premature, have been delivered in Israel’s field hospital in the Philippines — including one named Israel.

The hospital is seeing about 300 patients a day, many injured in last week’s Typhoon Haiyan or unable to care for chronic conditions due to lack of running water or electricity. The premature babies are being cared for in incubators brought by the Israel Defense Forces as part of the field hospital.

PA Arabs Placing Traps to ‘Catch’ Jews
Arab media website wrote about Palestinian Arabs near Shechem who set animal traps in fields in the hope of catching Jews in alleged acts of vandalism.
Arab news media website Al-Arab Al-An reported Saturday that Palestinian Arabs near Nablus (Shekhem) are setting animal traps in their fields to “catch” Jewish activists committing acts of vandalism.
Palestinian Arab media sources allege that this has become a popular tactic in “dealing” with neighboring Jewish farmers. An al-Qaida terrorist with roots in Global Jihad has been held in Israel for the past three years under administrative detention, it emerged Sunday.

Apple acquires Israeli company in $345 million deal
The appeal for Apple is the company’s advanced body-movement tracking technology bringing 3D sensing & natural interaction such as in interactive living room and mobile devices.
Israeli news and financial newspaper Calcalist reported Sunday that Apple has acquired PrimeSense, a motion-tracking company based in Tel Aviv, in a $345 million deal.

Palestinian Chairman Abbas’ Newest Demand: Change Israeli Coalition Gov’t
Palestinian Authority advisor to Abbas insists that negotiations cannot continue unless Israel changes its current democratically elected coalition gov’t – and demands that it does.
Nimer Hamed, the political advisor to Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, has expressed optimism in the success of peace talks – but only in the event that the PA and Israel can agree on matters related to security, including the crucial Jordan Valley region.
According to Reshet Bet, Hamed also claims that the PA cannot move forward with negotiations unless Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu changes the current coalition government.
Hamed added that the PA expects “concrete steps” from Israel following meetings with US Secretary of State John Kerry – but the PA refuses to give any details about what those steps may entail. Continue Reading »

CHICAGO – A Canadian parliamentary committee has called upon Ottawa to recognize the Jewish refugees of the Arab-Israeli conflict, eliciting praise from the country’s Jewish community.
