Hospitalized Former PM Ariel Sharon’s Condition Deteriorating

Israel’s former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s condition has taken a turn for the worse, after undergoing surgery last month.

Family members report, Sharon, 85, has 1-4 days to live.

Former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s condition continues to worsen, Sheba Hospital in Tel HaShomer reported Wednesday to Channel 10.

Sharon’s condition has been on the decline since being hospitalized for renal failure. The former premier underwent kidney surgery last month to fix the problem, but the move backfired, causing a further breakdown in his vital functions.

Making History: For the 1st time Israeli gov’t pays salaries to Reform Rabbis

JERUSALEM — Israeli government money was transferred for the first time to the Reform Movement in Israel to pay the salaries of four community Reform rabbis.

The transfer of the more than $86,000 on Wednesday comes 18 months after Israel’s Supreme Court approved an arrangement to enable non-Orthodox rabbis who lead congregations to receive state salaries like their Orthodox counterparts.

PRAGUE – The Palestinian ambassador to the Czech Republic has died after sustaining injuries in an explosion at his residence on Wednesday, a police spokeswoman said.

The blast occurred before midday and Ambassador Jamal al-Jamal’s family was also at the two-story residence in a northern suburb of the Czech capital. But no one else was hurt.

“There has been a detonation of a so-far unidentified explosive mixture,” spokeswoman Andrea Zoulova said.

About 3,000 guests visited the newly inaugurated Negev Nuclear Research Center in Dimona last Thursday, but the event was missing one key figure in the reactors history, after someone high up decided to toss their invite.

The guests saw images of the reactors’ establishment in the 1950s, as now-President Shimon Peres‘s personal project when he was the director-general of the Defense Ministry; they heard about its development in the 60s under the supervision of then-Deputy Defense Minister Peres; they learned about the challenges that the reactor overcame against a wave of international criticism in the 80’s, supported by then-Prime Minister Peres. December’s snowstorm cost Jerusalem $80 million in damages

The unusual snowstorm that swept Jerusalem last month will cost the capital more than $80 million in damages, Mayor Nir Barkat said Wednesday.

Appearing before the Knesset Finance Committee, Barkat demanded that the state compensate the municipality for the estimated 290 million shekel cost of repairs. “This was a tsunami that the city has never seen before,” Barkat said. “The state must recognize this storm as a natural disaster.”

“The municipality expects the government to volunteer and provide significant financial assistance to enable the city to return to its pre-storm state and to ensure that the damage does not fall on the residents’ shoulders and double their suffering,” he said. Continue Reading »

British newspaper The Independent has reported that former British International Development Secretary Clare Short could be arrested the next time she lands in Tel Aviv, after the pro-terrorist organization she is a director of was declared an “illicit organisation” by Israel’s Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon on Tuesday.

Gaza Terrorists Test Fire Homemade Long-Range M-175 Rockets

Terrorists in Hamas-controlled Gaza test fired their new long-range M-175 rocket out to sea, which can reach Tel Aviv.

Terrorists in Hamas-controlled Gaza conducted a test using long-range M-175 rockets on Tuesday evening.

Rockets of this type are able to reach the central Israeli city of Tel Aviv and even beyond that when fired from Gaza.

During the test, the terrorists fired the rockets out to sea, but the explosions were heard in towns near Gaza, including Sderot, Ashkelon, Ashdod and Netivot.
