Jerusalem to begin sanctions against Palestinian intransigence

In response of Fatah-Hamas unity deal and bid to join UN organizations, Israel confirmed list of additional sanctions against Palestinian Authority to begin day before ‘peace-talks’ set to reach deadline.

Israel has begun implementing economic sanctions against the Palestinians, after threatening to do so in wake of their new bid to join some UN organizations and recently announced unity deal between rival Fatah and Hamas, a senior Palestinian told Ynet Monday evening, a mere day before peace talks reach their deadline.

U.S. twice promised to support Israeli position on Palestinian unity gov’t

NYT reported: American commitment was given both at the start of Obama’s presidency & again after his re-election.

An Israeli official told the New York Times on Monday that Israel had in the past received “a specific commitment from the American administration” that it would not be expected to negotiate with a Palestinian unity government if Hamas did not meet the criteria set by the Middle East Quartet: recognition of Israel, renunciation of terror and a commitment to honor past agreements.

Canada’s Prime Minister Stephen Harper is urging Canadians to commemorate the victims and survivors of the Holocaust in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day, and “combat anti-Semitism in all its forms.”

He referred to the event as “one of the darkest chapters in human history,” and stressed the “importance of Holocaust education and remembrance.”

No where else in the world, can one see such a display of honor throughout an entire country, as cars stop on the highways and pedestrians freeze in place to solemnly reflect on the 6 million murdered Jews.

In Israel, Holocaust Remembrance Day begins quietly every year, on the eve of the Jewish calendar day of 27th of Nisan, a date which usually falls sometime in late April or early May.

Mayor Steps In When Lod Arabs Mocked Holocaust Day

Lod Mayor Yair Revivo refused to ignore fireworks being launched by Muslims at Jewish homes.

A group of Arabs in the coastal city of Lod chose to mock Holocaust Martyrs’ and Heroes’ Remembrance Day Sunday evening, by launching fireworks at Jewish homes just before the somber nationwide ceremonies began.

However, the provocation met a determined personal response by the city’s mayor, Yair Revivo.

Few people who visit Auschwitz are unmoved by evidence of the Nazi killing machine that so efficiently murdered some one million people during World War II.

Despite having grown up in a Palestinian society rife with Holocaust denial, where many believe that acknowledging the Jewish tragedy means surrendering their own narrative of victimhood, a visit to the Polish* death camp (It was NOT a ‘Polish camp’, it was a NAZI Death Camp established by the German Nazis in Poland – correction by IsraelandStuff) in 2011 set him on the path to championing Holocaust education.

Christian lone soldier decides to cross the ‘Finnish’ line to volunteer in IDF

 

30 years ago, Daniel Bana’s Christian Arab father married a Finnish tourist & moved to Finland. Bana 24, now a lone soldier in the IDF, calls Israel his home.

Corporal Daniel Bana, a 24-year-old combat soldier in the Kfir infantry brigade, is not your typical lone soldier. Some 30 years ago his father, a Christian Arab from Kafr Yasif, married a Finnish tourist visiting Israel and moved to southern Finland. They would have seven children.

Another gas & oil reserve field identified west of Tel Aviv

Situated 50 km off Israel’s coast, the Oz find could be a source of about 600 billion barrels of oil.

A potential new source of hydrocarbons may be sitting just 50 kilometers off the coast of Tel Aviv – with about 2.5 trillion cubic feet (TCF) of natural gas (71 billion cubic meters [BCM]) and 255 million barrels of oil, a new report reveals.

Dr. Mordechai Kedar: ‘Israel Should Dismantle the PA into 7 Emirates’

But at least one expert has said that the unity pact will work in Israel’s favor: Arutz Sheva columnist Dr. Mordechai Kedar, an expert on the Israeli-Arab sector, and an Arabic literature professor at Bar-Ilan University.
