Hundreds of Jewish gravestones vandalized as French antisemitism persists

News of the desecrated tombstones come a day after a deadly terror shooting at a Denmark synagogue, which resembled the terrorist attack at a Jewish supermarket in Paris last month.

 

PARIS – Several hundred Jewish tombs have been damaged in a cemetery near the northeastern French city of Strasbourg, the French interior minister said on Sunday.

COPENHAGEN – One person was shot in the head and two police were wounded when shots were fired at a synagogue in central Copenhagen a little after midnight Saturday, Danish police said, adding that it was too early to say whether the incident was connected to an earlier one at an arts cafe.

3 French soldiers were lightly injured by Muslim attacker with same surname as the terrorist that killed 4 Jewish patrons at a Paris kosher supermarket last month.

 

Three French soldiers were stabbed outside of a Jewish community center in Nice, France, AFP reported on Tuesday.

None of the soldiers were seriously wounded and the attacker was detained. French media reported that the name of the attacker was Moussa Coulibaly, who shares the same surname as the attacker that killed four Jewish patrons at a Paris kosher supermarket last month. Continue Reading »

Arab Youths Riot in Haifa, Shouting ‘Slaughter the Jews’

The neighborhood of Hadar in Haifa came under assault as young Arabs boys hurled anti-Semitic epithets while attacking Jewish pedestrians with sticks & rocks.

Several young Arab assailants armed with rubber straps, sticks and rocks entered the Hadar neighborhood in Haifa on Sunday, where they began beating passersby with the sticks and shouting “slaughter the Jew” in Arabic.

According to one of the testimonies from the attack, at around 11 p.m. the Arab youths arrived at Michael Street in the neighborhood and started threatening haredi residents on the street, with the sticks in their hands.

Police charged three people Saturday over an anti-Semitic attack in Sydney’s eastern suburbs that left one man seriously injured.

Four men and a woman were walking on Blair Street, Bondi, at about 12:30 AM Saturday,  on their way home from a Sabbath eve meal, when a group of about eight young men began yelling anti-Semitic insults at them, and then attacked them.

Israel’s security cabinet held a crisis meeting on Monday. The reason: the killing of two Israeli soldiers by Palestinians since Friday.

Earlier the weekend, Tomer Hazan (20) was killed in an Arab village. He was buried on Sunday (photo). Hours later, a Palestinian sniper in Hebron shot and killed another soldier, Kobi Gal, also 20-years-old.

Arab Slaps Random Jew in Attack on Jerusalem’s Light Rail

Jewish man in Jerusalem becomes target to random attack in what seems to be anti-Jewish motivated incident.

A Jewish man from the Binyamin region was assaulted Monday in a random attack on the light rail train in Jerusalem. The young man told Arutz Sheva that he was targeted by a group of Arab youths, apparently due to his recognizably Jewish appearance.

He was part of a group traveling to a birthday party in Jerusalem, he recalled. The group sat toward the front of the train.

4th Time in Month Synagogue Defaced

Synagogue established & frequented by Holocaust survivors is defaced with crosses, sending one member into shock.

Jews who came to pray at the Haohel synagogue in Bat Yam on Wednesday morning were shocked and appalled to find that it had been defaced for the fourth time in a month.

This time, vandals spray-painted two large crosses on the building, one on either side of the main entrance.

FBI: Jews are the Victims of Nearly 2/3 of all Religious Hate Crimes in U.S.

Jews & Jewish institutions continued to be principal targets, accounting for 63% of all religion-based hate crimes, attesting that anti-Semitism is still a serious & deeply entrenched problem in America.

The release of the FBI’s annual Hate Crime Statistics Act (HCSA) report indicated a promising new trend in America, with overall hate crimes overall falling by 6 percent in 2011. However, despite the improvement, anti-Jewish hate crimes still remain disproportionately high, the report found.

According to the report, there were 6,222 hate crimes in the U.S. in 2011 with 1,480 religious hate crimes, down 3.4 percent from 2010. Continue Reading »
