Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman (Yisrael Beytenu) issued sharp criticism against the United Nations on Wednesday, after Secretary General Ban Ki Moon accused Israel of committing war crimes in Gaza.

Liberman said that before criticizing Israel for unintentional damage to UN facilities during a self-defense operation, UN leaders should ensure that UN facilities will not serve the prime purpose of storing and launching missiles at Israeli civilians – and for incitement, which is strengthening and encouraging terrorism. Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman is intent on expelling the United Nations special envoy to the Middle East, Robert Serry, after authorities learned that he sought to transfer tens of millions of dollars in aid to Hamas, Channel 2 reported on Saturday.

Israel-Rwanda: Historic Trade Pact Signed

Africa pulled closer to Israel as Foreign Minister Liberman improves business ties with his diplomatic sprint through the continent.

Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman was in the swing of his African diplomatic tour on Wednesday, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with his Rwandan counterpart Louise Mushikiwabo to establish bilateral consultations.

Along with the MoU, Liberman inaugurated the Israel-Rwanda joint economic seminar, which will facilitate business ties between the two nations. The event was held with the participation of 200 business people from Israel and Rwanda.

Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman addressed the Remembrance Day ceremony in Kiryat Gat on Monday where he stated that the Jewish people are “a peace-seeking nation” but also said that, “We extend our hands in peace, but we will cut off every hand that threatens us.”

The foreign minister told listeners that regarding recent peace efforts with the Palestinians, “Special efforts were made by successive Israeli governments who were willing to make concessions to attain this goal, but when there is no willingness on the other side this becomes a virtually impossible task.”

Israeli Daily: PM Netanyahu Supports Liberman’s Plan for Land Swaps

Maariv daily cites “senior Likud sources” in Friday’s paper claiming Prime Minister Netanyahu supports FM Liberman’s population swap plan.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu supports Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman’s land swap plan, according to a Maariv report Friday.

The swap, which Israel reportedly offered the US in talks in December, refers to the area known as the Triangle in east-central Israel. The area includes the cities of Tayibe and Tira, in which about 300,000 Arabs live

Israeli Arabs in those areas would become citizens of a Palestinian state, according to the proposal.  In return for the area ceded, Israel will get to keep settlement blocs in Judea and Samaria. Continue Reading »
