The Israel Air force struck Hamas leader Ismael Haniyeh’s headquarters in the northern Gaza Strip early Saturday morning, according to the IDF Spokesman’s Office.

Haniyeh was not at the headquarters during the IAF strike, Israel Radio reported. It was not immediately clear whether there were any casualties in the strike.

Hamas Tried to Develop a Drone

The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit reveals that Gaza’s Hamas terrorist leaders have been trying to develop an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for use against Israel.

Gaza’s Hamas terrorist rulers have been trying to develop an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit revealed on Friday.

A video published by the IDF Spokesperson shows Hamas conducting a test flight of the drone it was building. Over the past week, during the IDF’s Operation Pillar of Defense, IAF aircraft struck a stockpile of such UAVs.

Reports on Friday evening indicated that the Hamas developers of the UAV acquired the knowledge required to develop it in Iran and Syria. Continue Reading »

Palestinian UN observer repeats call for UN to stop Israeli strikes

The UN Security Council held an emergency meeting Wednesday about Israel’s strikes on Gaza, yet took no action, as Israel threatened a ground offensive in the Hamas enclave to stem rocket salvoes by Palestinian militants.

The Palestinian Authority renewed its call on Thursday for the UN Security Council to take action to stop Israel’s attacks against the Gaza Strip, a day after the 15-nation body held an inconclusive emergency meeting on the escalating conflict.

The photographs below were taken by an anonymous Arutz Sheva reader who witnessed a strange scene on the Gaza perimeter recently. They show an Israel Electric Company (IEC) employee hoisted on a crane in order to fix a malfunction that denied electricity to Gaza City.

The operation, which of course is carried out by Israel for the benefit of Gazans, has to be carried out with military protection, because Gaza terrorists regularly target Israelis on the perimeter fence, including those they know are trying to assist them by fixing infrastructure or letting in goods. Defense Minister Ehud Barak hinted heavily Tuesday morning that the IDF plans an operation against Gaza terrorists, but he did not provide details.

Barak convened a situation assessment meeting at Gaza Division and heard the assessments of the Division Commander, the Head of Southern Command as well as police and Shin Bet representatives, regarding the tension in the South.

Four Israel civilians suffered shrapnel wounds from rockets fired by Gaza terrorists during the Sunday morning rush hour to school and work.

All of the victims were evacuated to Soroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheva, where they are being treated for light injuries. Gaza Tunnel Suddenly Explodes During IDF Operation

One of Hamas’ smuggling tunnels explodes in Gaza while a group of IDF soldiers work to uncover it.

A smuggling tunnel exploded in southern Gaza on Thursday evening, as a group of IDF soldiers were in the middle of an operation to uncover it.

One of the soldiers was very lightly wounded in the incident. An official IDF statement noted that the explosion caused damage to an empty military vehicle that was standing nearby.

IDF Spokesman Yoav Mordechai said on Thursday evening that over the past two weeks there have been a number of incidents near the border fence with Gaza, during which explosive devices had been detonated near soldiers. Continue Reading »

The women were calling for Palestinian reconciliation and sent a request to protest to Hamas which was ignored. Using sticks and batons, Hamas police attacked the women and dispersed the protest.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday described as “very weird,” the diplomats sent by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyhu to help negotiate a re-normaliztion of relations between the two countries, Turkish daily Today’s Zaman reported Friday. Ties between Turkey and Israel were strained following the 2010 Mavi Marmara incident, in which IDF commandos killed nine Turkish citizens attempting to break the blockade on Gaza.
