Hamas Accuses PA President of Treachery, Responsible for Gaza’s Recent Bombing Attacks

After allegedly securing confessions, the ruling Islamist group of Gaza reverses its claim that Salafis have been committing bombings, saying orders came from President Abbas’ PA.

Hamas claimed on Wednesday that the Palestinian Authority is responsible for a series of bombings in recent weeks, after previously accusing local Salafis who support the Islamic State.

The Interior Ministry of Hamas in Gaza said at a midday press conference that the PA tried to exploit the regional security situation in order to destabilize the Gaza Strip.

Hamas claimed it arrested a number of people involved in the alleged conspiracy, which it said was led by senior political and security officials in Ramallah.

Earlier this month Hamas “police” stormed the Gaza home of Yunis Hunnar, believed to be a member of a Salafi group linked to ISIS. A Hamas spokesman later said Hunnar had carried out attacks against the ruling group in May. Nor was it the first time Hamas’ rule had been challenged by Islamists more radical than itself.

According to The Associated Press the poll by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research shows that 50 percent of Gaza residents want to emigrate, compared to 25 percent in the West Bank. Continue Reading »

ISIS Group In Gaza Threaten to Destroy ‘Heretical Hamas’ After Killing Commander

A terror group operating in Gaza called Army of the Islamic State, claim to be associated with ISIS and said that it blew-up a top Hamas commander with a car-bomb.

A group that is operating in Gaza and which says it is associated with ISIS has claimed that it killed a top Hamas commander. According to the group, which calls itself the Army of the Islamic State, Saber Siam was killed when ISIS operatives placed a bomb on his car, blowing it up with him inside.

Siam was killed, the group said, because he was “a partner in a declared war against religion and against Muslims, working for the heretical government in Gaza.” Continue Reading »

World Bank: Unemployment rate in Gaza is among highest in the world

The World Bank’s report said that to rebuild Gaza’s economy, “a unified Palestinian gov’t in both the West Bank & Gaza” was required.

Palestinian paper reports the dispute between Iran & the Palestinian Islamic Jihad erupted after the terror organization refused to issue a statement of support for the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels fighting the Saudis in Yemen.

Iran has stopped funding the Palestinian Islamic Jihad organization, which is already facing a severe financial crisis, the Palestinian daily Al-Quds reported on Wednesday.

Hamas reports Gaza blast leaves 3 dead and 40 hospitalized

 

At least 40 people were wounded and three killed after an explosion rocked the northern Gaza Strip during the attempted diffusion of an un-exploded Israeli ordnance Thursday night.

Islamic State supporters in Gaza give Hamas 72-hour ultimatum

A group calling themselves “Supporters of the Islamic State in Beit al-Maqdis” in the Gaza Strip issued Monday a 72 hour ultimatum to Hamas to release their prisoners or face “dire consequences.”

“Hamas and its security forces have 72 hours from the release of this statement to free all Salafist (jihadist) prisoners,” said the statement, adding that “all options are available” to free those prisoners and that “our soldiers are ready to act against chosen targets at the end of this ultimatum.”

Jimmy Carter: Seeking meeting with Netanyahu is waste of time

 

 

Speaking in Jerusalem, former US president Jimmy Carter on Saturday urged Israel to work toward a diplomatic resolution to the Palestinian conflict and end its military presence in the Palestinian territories.

However, he sounded a less-than-optimistic note regarding the Israeli leadership’s commitment to these goals.

“We didn’t ask for any meeting with Prime Minister [Benjamin] Netanyahu or his cabinet we have never met in the past and this time we didn’t ask because it would be a waste of time,” said Carter, a member of The Elders, an independent Group of global leaders.

Hamas’s “military wing,” the Al-Qassam Brigades, announced on Saturday morning that a terrorist in the organization was killed in Gaza’s Beit Lahiya.

The announcement revealed that the terrorist died when the tunnel he was working to dig collapsed.

Hamas has been actively rebuilding its terror tunnel infrastructure meant to facilitate attacks from within Israeli territory, with the digging said to be taking place six days a week with three shifts each day on roughly 30 tunnels – around the same number as was destroyed in last summer’s war, but in different routes.

Former US president Jimmy Carter called off his visit to the Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian sources on Wednesday. No reason for the cancellation was given.

Carter was scheduled to arrive on April 30 in Gaza to meet with Hamas leaders, and then with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to help mediate between the two factions’ stalled national reconciliation. Hamas has signaled to Israel that it is not responsible for Thursday evening’s rocket attack on southern Israel and that it is working to find and arrest the shooters, Channel 10 News reports.

A senior security official said, however, that Israel views Hamas as being responsible for the attack.

PA official: Hamas negotiating to create Palestinian entity in Gaza

Senior Hamas official denies claims they conduct negotiations with Israel, saying “We negotiate with the occupation only through the rifle.”

Palestinian officials claimed over the weekend that Hamas was seeking to establish a separate Palestinian entity in the Gaza Strip.

The officials also claimed that Hamas was negotiating with Israel about its plan to turn the Gaza Strip into a separate Palestinian entity.

Hamas has generally accused Israel of making life miserable for Gazans, even though it’s been nearly a decade since Israel abandoned the Strip, and Hamas has been in charge since 2007. In general, Hamas has blamed Israel for the high level of poverty in Gaza, as well as the many social problems in Gazan society.

Abbas Suggests That Arab League Attack Hamas

Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas used the platform of the Arab League summit in Sharm el-Shekh, Egypt, this Saturday to attack his “unity partner” Hamas, making a subtle call for the Arab states to take military action against the Gaza-based Muslim Brotherhood offshoot.

Speaking at the 26th summit in the southern Sinai peninsula, Abbas made reference to the campaign of airstrikes launched last Thursday by Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries against Iran-backed Shi’ite Houthi rebels in Yemen – the Houthis have overthrown the government while rapidly expanding their control.
