Israel Defense Minister: Iran planning to open front against Israel from Golan Heights

Iran is seeking to open a new front against Israel from the Syrian Golan Heights, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon said Monday during a visit to Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) to mark Space Week.

Speaking a little more than a week after an air strike, attributed by international media reports to Israel, that struck and killed 12 Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and Hezbollah operatives in Quneitra, Syria, near the Israeli border, Ya’alon appeared to link the air strike to Iran’s activities in Syria. New Israeli-Indian defense cooperation passes first test

 

Indian gov’t describes test of IAI’s Barak 8 system, designed to shoot down incoming aircraft or missiles from land or sea platforms as, “a milestone in the cooperation between 2 countries in developing advanced weapon systems.”

An aerial defense system developed jointly by Israel and India passed its first trial simulating combat conditions on Monday, Israel Aerospace Industries said.

The Barak 8 system is designed to shoot down incoming aircraft or missiles from land or sea platforms. Defense industry sources have said the value of the project is $1.4 billion and highlights burgeoning Israeli-Indian defense ties.

Israel’s Plant for Producing F-35 Stealth Aircraft Wings Opens

Defense Minister acknowledges that this $2.7B deal between Israel & the US for F-35 wing production proves a strong bond with Washington, despite past arguments.

Israel Aerospace Industries inaugurated Tuesday a new plant for the manufacture of American fighter pilot wings for F-35 aircraft near Ben Gurion Airport.

As part of the deal, the IDF will receive 19 stealth aircraft at a cost of $2.7 billion, which will be deducted from US aid funds to Israel.

In exchange, every year – starting in 2016 – the new plant is expected to provide about a third of the world’s production of F-35 wings, with about 810 wings per year – a production volume worth roughly 2.5 billion dollars. Continue Reading »

The IAI (Israel Aerospace Industries) has unveiled the latest defense against the threat facing armored vehicles from Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) and mines—a large rectangular multi-sensor system that is placed on the front of an armored vehicle, which can detect and then destroy hidden explosive devices from long distances.

Israel Aerospace Industries to produce 1622 wings for F-35 stealth fighter jet

 

Israel Aerospace Industries’ production line for the F-35 stealth fighter jet wings to open in September, according to IAI CEO Yossi Weiss at the Farnborough Airshow.

“The Defense Ministry’s $250 million debt to Israel Aerospace Industries is burdening its activities,” IAI CEO Yossi Weiss told Israel Hayom at the Farnborough Airshow on Monday. “We are slowing our pace, and even moving people between projects.”

“However, this is a not a lost debt,” Weiss continued. “For our part, we will continue to work and do all that is necessary, particularly given these tough times [the security situation in Israel].

Unidentified Foreign Customer Seeks $1.2 billion in Israel’s Electronic Systems

Israel Aerospace Industries impending $1.2 billion deal with a foreign customer, evidently includes advanced radar systems.

 

Israel Aerospace Industries is negotiating the sale of $1.2 billion in electronic systems to an unidentified foreign customer, the state-owned company said in a terse Tel Aviv Stock Exchange announcement Sunday.

If IAI wins it, the contract will be for a five-year period and appears to include advanced radar systems.

IAI released the announcement shortly after another one forecasting negative cash flow from operations for the second quarter ended June 30, citing a delay in payments it is owed from the Defense Ministry.

Within upcoming 2 years, IAI will provide the Navy with 3 Super Dvora patrol boats, which are expected to secure coasts of northern Israel, including gas rigs, and the Gaza & Red Sea coasts.

The Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) announced Sunday that the Beersheba Ramta plant signed a contract with the defense establishment to provide three Super Dvora fast patrol boats to the Israeli Navy. The Super Dvora is an advanced medium-sized vessel used for security operations.

New Version of Israel’s Arrow Missile is Being Developed

Israel Aerospace Industries to Produce F-35 Wings

Israel is once again taking part in assembling some of the most advanced aircraft in the world.

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) signed a contract with Lockheed Martin to produce wings for the F-35 fighter. IAI will begin delivering the F-35 wings in 2015. The contract’s duration is for about 10-15 years, with potential sales reaching $2.5 billion.
