The IDF struck Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip on Monday evening in response to a rocket barrage into Israel that included at least seven missiles that were fired toward Jerusalem.

Gov’t approves Jerusalem cable car to the Western Wall

The Israeli cabinet approves the cost of Jerusalem’s tourist cable car, at an expected cost of $56 million, with its 40 cars carrying 3,000 passengers an hour across 1.4 km beginning in 2021.

On Sunday, as Israelis marked the 51st Jerusalem Day, the Israeli cabinet approved the proposal of Tourism Minister Yariv Levin (Likud), to invest NIS 200 million ($56 million) – to be distributed equally between the Tourism Ministry and the Finance Ministry – in the construction of the tourist cable car project to Jerusalem’s Old City. The Jordanian government yesterday (Wednesday) strongly condemned the presence of Jews in the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and Jewish activities there. It referred to Jerusalem Day events, during which 15 Jews who had bowed in prayer down were detained, while others sang Hatikvah.

WATCH: Today Israel Celebrates Jerusalem Day

Jerusalem Day is being celebrated across Israel on Sunday, marking 49 years since the capital’s reunification in the Six-Day War. Memorial services will be held during the day for fallen soldiers of the six-day war.

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat will hold a reception for citizens of the capital from 3:30pm to 5pm today at the Tower of David Museum of the History of Jerusalem in the Old City.

This year, as in every year, the center of the festivities will be the traditional Flag Dance procession, organized by the Am K’lavi association. Continue Reading »

Jerusalem Plans a Face-Lift For 2017, 50 Year Jubilee For Capital’s Unification

Billions to be spent on projects, including massive visitors center at Western Wall, a fertility center, upgrading transportation infrastructure and more.

The government announced major construction projects in Jerusalem on Tuesday during a special cabinet session marking the 48th anniversary of the city’s reunification.
