Norway’s chief of police Monday expressed “regret” over the police force’s role in the arrests and deportations of Jews from the German-occupied country during World War II.

“On behalf of Norwegian police and those involved in the deportations of Norwegian Jews, I wish to express regret,” Odd Reidar Humlegard said on public broadcaster NRK.

Arafat’s Exhumation is Set for Tuesday Morning

PA officials reported that the body of former PLO Chairman Arafat will be exhumed to see if he was murdered.

Palestinian Authority officials said on Saturday they would exhume the body of former PA Chairman Yasser Arafat next week to see if he was poisoned with a radioactive isotope, AFP reported.

The announcement came as a group of international experts arrived in Ramallah to take samples of the remains of Arafat’s bones and clothing for further study in European labs.

“The tomb will be opened on (Tuesday) and experts will take samples the same day within a matter of a few hours,” Tawfiq Tirawi told reporters in Ramallah, according to AFP. Continue Reading »

Iran, Syria and Russia Object Placement of NATO Missiles on Turkish-Syrian Border

Iran is doing everything it can to fight the placement of Patriot defense missiles along the Turkish-Syrian border. So is Syria, Iran’s beneficiary, backed by Russia, its other benefactor.

Turkey, a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has requested deployment of the Patriot anti-missile defense system. Ankara has been looking for ways to beef up defenses along Turkey’s 900-kilometer (560-mile) border with Syria.

More Missiles for Hamas are on their way as Iran Loads Ship

Iran has loaded a ship with new missiles to replace those destroyed by Israel in Operation Pillar of Defense, the London Sunday Times reported.

The missile-laden ship was reportedly spotted by Israeli satellites. The report comes one day after de facto Gaza Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh claimed that the ceasefire agreement hammered out last week does not prohibit Hamas from manufacturing new weapons and the smuggling of others, which he said Hamas needs for “defense.” Continue Reading »
