A report in the Al-Hayat daily newspaper said that Hamas expects the new regulations to take effect in the coming months, after introduction of the legislation in the PA parliament.

Existing laws mete out the death penalty to individuals convicted of murder, spying, homosexuality, or selling land to Jews. Continue Reading »

By Ryan Jones

Five Jewish men were arrested on Wednesday for quietly praying atop Jerusalem’s Temple Mount, an expression of faith that caused the many Muslims around them to explode in fury.

Police stationed at the sensitive holy site said a mob of Muslims gathered around the Jewish men, hurling insults and nearly coming to blows before Islamic officials stepped in to restore calm on the condition the Jewish worshipers be arrested.

Jews and Christians are forbidden to pray atop the Temple Mount for fear of upsetting the Muslims that currently control the complex. Continue Reading »

The Cambridge professor and renowned theoretical physicist was first reported to be boycotting Israel due to what anti-Israel activists called, “his independent decision to respect the boycott, based upon his knowledge of Palestine, and on the unanimous advice of his own academic contacts there.”

Following a letter to Hawking, as well as numerous online reports, Cambridge University issued a statement, claiming that the report was a “misunderstanding” and that Hawking was not boycotting Israel, but rather that he was not travelling to Shimon Peres’s conference next month for health reasons.

Hawking, There are More Countries for Anti-Occupation to Boycott!

Due to their occupation policies, a prestigious Israeli professor has a long list of countries Prof. Hawking should be boycotting with him.

By Dr. Mordechai E. Schwarz

Dear Professor Hawking,

I heard this morning on the radio that you decided to cancel your attendance in Israel’s president conference, and joined the academic boycott against Israel. You could not chose a more appropriate date then May eighth, the day Nazi Germany surrendered in 1945 and the day I joined the occupation army of Israel in 1985, to speak out loud and clear against occupation and oppression.

Your decision to boycott Israel I’m sure is one that you believe to be correct, given the statement put out on your behalf, due to the “advice of [your] own academic contacts” in the region. Continue Reading »

For Senegal, a Muslim nation, Israel’s friendship is preferred to Islamic militancy

The Senegalese gov’t, then chair of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, condemned Operation Cast Lead in Gaza as “unjustified & unacceptable”, but the condemnations never went beyond words.

DAKAR, Senegal (JTA) — Struggling to be heard over a flock of bleating sheep, Israel’s ambassador to Senegal invited a crowd of impoverished Muslims to help themselves to some 100 sacrificial animals that the embassy had corralled at a dusty community center.

But Israel’s shouldn’t get too content, as experts with the Water Authority’s Hydrological Services predict that the next drought will hit already in 2015, and will make the previous dry spell seem like a picnic by comparison.

The next drought will last up to 20 years, and will have an “exceptional” negative impact on the region’s fresh water resources, according to a report published by the Water Authority this week. Continue Reading »
