Human Rights Watch levels ultimatum to Israel over Gaza war-crimes investigation

 

HRW, known for its anti-Israel bias, accuses Israel of preventing its researchers for accessing Gaza and Egypt of preventing HRW representatives entry since 2008.

Human Rights Watch demanded on Monday that Israel allow its investigators into Gaza if it wants the International Criminal Court “to take seriously” Israel’s own war crimes investigations.

The ICC Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda (photographed above/Wikimedia) started a preliminary examination of 2014 Gaza war crimes allegations in January 2015.

HRW accuses Israel in a 47-page report of preventing its researchers for accessing Gaza. It has also accused Egypt of preventing HRW visits to the coastal territory since 2008. Continue Reading »

3 EU countries work with Israel on world’s longest undersea gas pipeline

 

Feasibility studies had been completed but work on developing it would not begin for several years, so the 4 ministers agreed to meet every half-year to advance the new gas pipeline that will boost cooperation & boost supply.

Italy, Israel, Greece and Cyprus pledged Monday to move ahead with the world’s longest undersea gas pipeline from the eastern Mediterranean to southern Europe, with support from the European Union.

If carried out as planned, the long-discussed $6.2 billion pipeline would take gas from Israel and Cyprus’s recently discovered offshore gas reserves to Europe and could help reduce the continent’s dependence on Russian energy at a time of ongoing tensions. Continue Reading »

US President Donald Trump has asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to extend some goodwill gestures to the Palestinians to show that Jerusalem is serious about the peace process, the Haaretz daily reported Sunday.

According to the report, Netanyahu stated in the weekly security cabinet meeting on Thursday that he intends to comply with the request and has already begun planning the tokens of goodwill which would include both the West Bank and Gaza. Continue Reading »
