WATCH: 2,000 years old Bronze mask of the god Pan unearthed in Israel’s Galilee

A bronze mask of the Greek god Pan believed to be some 2,000 years old was discovered by University of Haifa archaeologists recently near Lake Kinneret in the Galilee.

According to the archaeologists, the mask is unlike any other discovered before due to its great size – larger than a human head.

Israel’s Wine Industry Leaving Italy & France in the Dust

Eli Poch, the CEO of the Jerusalem Wine Club, says the Israeli wine industry has advantages that are allowing for unparalleled growth.

In 1987, the Golan Heights Winery won Israeli wines their first major international award in competition with the 1984 Yarden Cabernet Sauvignon 1984 at the International Wines & Spirits Competition in London. Eli Poch, the Founder and CEO of the Jerusalem Wine Club and proprietor of the Club’s full-service wine shop in Efrat, says the industry has never looked back.

In the nearly 30 years since the industry was revitalized by that one award, the number of wineries has gone from a handful to between 250 and 400.

Israeli bioengineers developing 1st lab-grown chicken

2 years after Dutch lab engineered historic lab-grown hamburger patty, Israeli researchers now developing the first ever lab-grown chicken.

Israeli researchers are in the process of developing the first ever lab-grown chicken, just a few short years after the first lab-grown hamburger was debuted.

The research is being funded by the Modern Agricultural Foundation, a non-profit “working to promote research in the field of cultured meat.”

The foundation’s co-founder, Shir Friedman says she hopes that by the end of 2015, there will be a recipe for how to “culture chicken cells.”

Israeli Druse leaders reject Lebanon’s Druse MP Jumblatt: ‘Stop interfering in our affairs’

Lebanese Druse MP Walid Jumblatt, called on his Israeli coreligionists to support Joint Arab List party in elections next week, drawing a stern response from Sheikh Moafaq Tarif in Israel.

The spiritual leader of Israel’s Druse community on Friday rebuffed comments by Lebanese Druse parliamentarian Walid Jumblatt, who called on his coreligionists to support the Joint Arab List.

In an interview with the Arab-language web site Huna, Sheikh Moafaq Tarif said that the Druse in Israel “are an inseparable part of Israeli society and they enjoy freedom of expression and freedom to do as they please.”

Israel’s President Tells Envoys, ‘The Jewish State is Turning Eastwards’

President Reuven Rivlin on Thursday afternoon hosted 20 Israeli ambassadors and diplomatic mission heads to Asian-Pacific countries at the Presidential Residence in Jerusalem.

“The friendly relationship between Israel and the rising powers in Asia represents an economic and strategic opportunity for both sides,” Rivlin told them. “As a state which seeks new markets for trade, the connection with Asia is more important than ever to Israel.”

The president stressed “Israel is more and more turning to face the East, we are witnessing cross-fertilization in the fields of education, industry, tourism, and security.”

Federal judge orders Philadelphia’s transit system to accept anti-Islam ads with Hitler

Philadelphia’s transit system ordered to display ads with photograph of former Palestinian Mufti with Adolf Hitler, saying, ‘Jew Hatred: It’s in the Quran.’

Philadelphia’s transit system has been ordered to accept provocative ads that include a 1941 photograph of Adolf Hitler with a former Arab leader after a federal judge ruled in favor of a pro-Israel group’s free-speech lawsuit.

The proposed bus ads carry a tagline saying: “Jew Hatred: It’s in the Quran.”

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority believes the ads violate “minimal civility standards” and will consider an appeal. The Philadelphia Inquirer first reported on Wednesday’s ruling by US District Judge Mitchell Goldberg. Continue Reading »

US Courts Sentences Ex-PFLP Bomber to Jail for Lying Before Being Deported

Rasmieh Odeh to be incarcerated 18-month before being deported for concealing being imprisoned for terrorist past & the murder of 2 Israelis.

Rasmieh Yousef Odeh, 67, was sentenced to 18 months in prison on Thursday for immigration fraud for failing to tell US authorities that she had been jailed in Israel for a 1969 supermarket bombing in which she murdered two Israeli students, Leon Kanner and Eddie Joffe.

She had been found guilty of immigration fraud in a Detroit federal court last November, with federal prosecutors noting she failed to reveal her criminal history when she immigrated from Jordan in 1995, and again when she was naturalized as a U.S.

PayPal acquires Israeli cybersecurity firm, creating local hub in Jewish state

Details of the acquisition were not publicized, but some reports this week said PayPal, which is being spun off by online giant eBay, was paying $60 million for the Israeli CyActive.

Online payments group PayPal announced Tuesday it was acquiring Israeli cybersecurity firm CyActive and establishing a new security hub in Israel.

The terms of the deal were not announced, but some reports this week said PayPal, which is being spun off by online giant eBay, was paying $60 million for CyActive.

“Our goal is to extend our global security leadership, and bolster our efforts in predictive threat detection and prevention,” said PayPal chief technology officer James Barrese in a blog post.

Director General of the PMO Harel Locker, budget division director Amir Levy, and Director General of the Ministry of Defense Dan Harel conducted the deal arranging the timetable and funding for the plan with representatives of the Israel Land Authority. The program intends to build 60,000 new homes.
