Erdoğan quips Turkey may ban Facebook & YouTube to leash opponents

Forced to confront his former political ally, the struggling Turkish prime minister aims to silence criticism from his political enemies on internet sites.

Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey could ban Facebook and YouTube, which he says have been abused by his political enemies, after local elections on March 30.

Online petition demands Zuckerberg act on Facebook antisemitism

Swedish Jew who launched online initiative gets roughly 17,000 signatures urging Facebook to follow it’s own TOS by taking down “vile, horrific” antisemitic posts.

 

 

An online petition urging Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to help stamp out anti-Semitism on the social networking site had garnered nearly 17,000 signatures by Friday.

The petition is the brainchild of Anna Berg, a Swedish Jew who told Maariv newspaper this week that she has long been battling anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism in the Scandinavian country.

How can a Facebook page devoted to ‘Jewish ritual murder’ not be an overt and obvious violation of Facebook’s Terms of Service?

Facebook has a page (at least one) dedicated to the subject of Jewish ritual murder also known as “Blood libel.” Facebook also has much vaunted community standards which do “not permit individuals or groups to attack others based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability or medical condition.”

Report: Facebook/YouTube Trojan Horse Virus Hit Israel in November

An IT security company reports a Trojan horse viruses on YouTube & Facebook were among the top threats to Israeli computer users last November.

The ESET company has revealed the top three threats to Israeli computer-users for the month of November. All three are viruses that have been spread primarily on Facebook and YouTube.

Arab Hackers Attack Israeli Facebook User Accounts

Hackers from Gaza & Tunisia break into the Facebook accounts of about 13,000 Israelis, making a list of usernames & their passwords public.

Channel 10 News reported on Monday that Arab hackers had broken into the Facebook accounts of some 13,000 Israelis.

The hackers, from Tunisia and Gaza, made public on Monday evening the usernames and passwords of the accounts which they had broken into. In some cases they changed the profile pictures of the users in question.

Victims of the hacking attack confirmed to Channel 10 that their Facebook account was hacked, with some saying they had thought the attack was a prank by their friends. Continue Reading »

‘Palestinian’ Hacked Zuckerberg’s Facebook Account

After Facebook ignored his glitch discovery when reported, Palestinian computer expert Khalil Shreateh, demonstrated his point by hacking CEO Marc Zuckerberg’s personal page leaving him a message.

A skilled computer hacker from the Palestinian Authority, Khalil Shreateh, found a dangerous glitch in the privacy sector of Facebook. Yet, after his warnings were generally ignored by Facebook, Shreateh took matters up with the CEO of the company, Mark Zuckerberg, by breaking the rules and posting on Zuckerbergs’s wall, reported the Daily Mail

‘Hasbara’ Director Suspended by PM Over ‘Offensive’ Facebook Posts

Danny Seaman, the Prime Minister’s head of Israel’s on-line communications activities, claims he is the victim of a vendetta by Ha’aretz, an Israeli  left-wing daily newspaper.

Danny Seaman, who is director of social and interactive media in the Prime Minister’s Office, has been suspended after several people complained that he had made offensive posts on his personal Facebook page. There was no word as to when, or if, he would return to work.

Facebook in talks to buy Israeli GPS mega-hit Waze

If the $500 million deal happens, this will be Facebook’s 3rd acquisition in Israel, along with Face.com & Snaptu.

Facebook Inc. (Nasdaq: FB) is in advanced talks to buy Israeli navigation and traffic congestion app company Waze Ltd. for $500 million.

Waze declined to respond to queries by “Globes” on the subject. When asked whether Facebook would close the company, as it has done with its previous acquisitions, Waze replied, “Don’t worry, we’ll be all right.”

There were reports in January that Waze was in talks with Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) at a company value of $400 million, but no deal materialized.
