Lebanon’s chief of staff, Gen. Joseph Aoun, boycotted a major conference of chiefs of staff hosted by the United States, which was attended by IDF Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Gadi Eizenkot.

The conference was held at the beginning of the week in Washington, Haaretz reported. IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot sent a forceful message to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on Monday during the Chief of Staff Prize of Excellence ceremony.
Certificates of merit were presented at the ceremony to the winning military units in various categories, including: brigades, battalions, reserve units, training units, combat support units and technology units.

Israel pledged Tuesday to protect any refugees who fled towards the Jewish state after a rebel offensive in Syria and Islamist violence there raised fears about the Druze minority’s safety.
A significant number of Druze live in Israel, and leading members of the community have called on the government to help their brethren in Syria following the recent violence.
