Lebanon objects to IAF jets flying low over their southern skies

Lebanese media is also reporting that Israeli helicopter patrols are observed in the area as well.

Lebanese media reported Israeli Air Force warplanes were hovering since Sunday noon over southern Lebanon and conducting mock attacks at a low altitude. The report comes one week after Israel allegedly launched a series of airstrikes at military research facilities around Damascus from Lebanese territory.

According to the report by Lebanese news channel Al-Nashra, four F-16 jets circled low over the Lebanon-controlled territories of the Hermon Mountain, the towns of Marjeyoun and Khiam in southern Lebanon, and the western Beqaa Valley of Lebanon. Continue Reading »

IAF shoots down own drone due to malfunction

Israel Air Force shoots down one of its own UAVs over Mediterranean due to engine malfunction.

An Air Force Shoval-type drone engaged in routine activity was shot down over the sea due to an engine malfunction on Saturday. IAF helicopters searched for its remains in the sea between Tel Aviv and Netanya.

Web surfers reported that illuminating bombs were fired over coastal cities as part of the search.

Shoval is one of Israel’s largest and most advanced drones.

Israeli officials confirm: Israeli Air Force hit missiles headed to Hezbollah

Israeli official said shipment was not of chemical arms, but ‘game changing’ weapons from Syria.

The attach followed a secret cabinet meeting that approved the strike Thursday night.

Israeli officials confirmed Saturday that the Israeli Air Force carried out a strike against Syria that targeted a shipment of advanced missiles.

Two Israeli warplanes penetrated Friday morning into Lebanese airspace and soared for about three hours above the capital Beirut, according to a report by the Lebanese military.

Earlier in the day Lebanese news site El-Nashra reported IAF aircraft were hovering in the country’s aerial space near the southern towns of Bint Jbeil and Marjayoun and were apparently carrying out simulated attacks. Israel puts its Air Defense Command on display

Israel’s Air Defense Command commemorates the 1973 Yom Kippur War by showing off its modern advanced anti-missile systems.

The Air Defense Command branch of the Israel Air Force held a day-long demonstration of its modern capabilities last week in the southern Negev region.

The event was a commemoration of the 1973 Yom Kippur War, during which the command, then known as the Anti-Aircraft Command, played a major role.

As the military forces of Syria and Egypt pressed their early advantage thanks to a successful surprise attack on the holiest day on the Jewish calendar, the Anti-Aircraft Command managed to down 54 enemy aircraft, allowing the reeling Israeli forces time to recover and regroup for a crushing counter-offensive. It has been cleared for publication that Israeli F-16 fighter jets downed a drone off of Haifa’s coastline at around noon Thursday.

The unmanned aircraft apparently entered Israel’s airspace from the north and was heading south. Explosions were heard in the area.

Two Israeli Air Force pilots killed when helicopter crashed

Two IAF aircrew members were killed last night in a Cobra combat helicopter crash during a practice flight. IAF Commander Major General Eshel instructed the formation of an investigative committee and the grounding of the Cobra Formation.

Israeli submarines have allegedly been spotted cruising off the coast of Lebanon between Sidon and Nakura, according to a report in Lebanese media.

French tracking installations informed the United Nations that the subs had been detected, according to the report, published in the Al-Dayar daily newspaper.

Convoy was Ruse, Israeli F-16 droped Bunker-Buster on Syria’s Chemical Site

London-based Arab newspaper says many Iranian Revolutionary Guards that were guarding the installation were killed.

The site allegedly attacked by Israel in Syria manufactured chemical and biological weapons, according to a report in Iraqi newspaper Azzaman that appears in London.

The newspaper quoted Western diplomats who are close to the regime of Bashar al-Assad. It says that the classified installation, which is located just 12 kilometers (7 miles) from the presidential palace, was guarded by a large contingent of Iranian Revolutionary Guards, many of whom died in the attack.

IDF to begin using its new ‘Advanced Missile Detection System’

The IDF’s Air Defense Formation’s new defensive system will operate more efficiently, detecting 99% of incoming missiles, being far more precise than the current systems, while minimizing false alarms.

Two months after the end of operation Pillar of Defense, the Air Defense Formation continues to advance its capabilities in defending Israel against missile threats. In one such development, the existing missile detection systems will soon be replaced with a newer version incorporating innovative changes.

The 165th class of Israel Defense Forces air force pilots will graduate this Thursday at a graduation ceremony to be attended by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Ehud Barak, Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz and Air Force Commander Maj. Gen. Amir Eshel.
