3 Arab Terrorists Stab IDF Soldier in Jerusalem Neighborhood

Terrorist attack in Jerusalem’s northern neighborhood of Pisgat Ze’ev left the IDF soldier with light wounds.

Three young Arab terrorists carried out a stabbing attacking Thursday morning, targeting a soldier in Jerusalem’s northern neighborhood of Pisgat Ze’ev.

The soldier was left with light stab wounds in his leg, after being attacked on Nativ Hamazalot Street in the capital city.

Magen David Adom (MDA) crews treated the soldier, and evacuated him to the Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital nearby. He was released shortly thereafter.

 

Police have opened an investigation to track down the attackers. Apparently the stabbing was nationalistically motivated, a crime carrying a heavier penalty. Continue Reading »

Returning Terrorist at Jordanian Border Shot Dead after Attacking IDF Soldier

An alert IDF soldier shot & killed a Palestinian Arab who attacked him at the Allenby Bridge crossing Monday.

An Arab terrorist was shot to death Monday morning at the Allenby Bridge crossing to Jordan, after he attacked an IDF soldier. The bridge, which is not open to Israeli Jews, was closed due to the incident as an investigation was carried out.

The confrontation apparently started when the terrorist attempted to wrestle the soldier’s gun away from him, leading the soldier to defend himself and in doing so shoot the attacker to death.

IDF Celebrates Diversity Week

 

Israel allows its IDF recruits to pledge allegiance on a Bible, the New Testament or Koran; women can fill almost any military role.

The IDF may be the army of the Jewish state, but that doesn’t mean it’s comprised solely of Jewish men and women. Many from among Israel’s minorities choose willingly to join the IDF and take part in the defense of this nation that has provided them with civil rights and freedoms unprecedented throughout the rest of the Middle East.

Israel’s High Court cuts state funding for draft-dodging yeshiva students

 

High Court of Justice rules in an interim order forbidding the gov’t from funding yeshiva students whose draft date was delayed by defense minister.

In a dramatic decision Tuesday, the High Court of Justice, composed of nine justices – with a majority of eight to one – issued an interim order forbidding the government from funding yeshiva students whose draft date was delayed.

The decision applies to yeshiva students aged 18 to 20, who were served with enlistment orders beginning in August 2013 and have not reported at the recruitment center because of Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon‘s decision to delay the draft date because “the question of jurisdiction over them is doubtful.” Continue Reading »

Captain Tal Nahman, 21 – IDF Soldier Killed by Friendly-Fire

IDF officer killed in friendly fire incident when mistaken as a terrorist.

The identity of the soldier killed Monday due to friendly fire near Gaza has been released: Captain Tal Nahman, 21, from Nes Ziona.

Nahman was promoted to Captain posthumously. The funeral will take place at 3:00 pm Tuesday with a military ceremony at the cemetery in Nes Ziona.

Reportedly the incident occurred during a routine operation to prevent the placement of explosives on the Gaza security fence, as well as infiltration by Gazan terrorists. Continue Reading »

IDF appoints 1st female battlefield battalion commander

 

Maj. Oshrat Bachar will first be promoted to the rank of Lieut.-Col and after completion of a battalion commander’s course will she head the Eitam battalion, tasked with monitoring terrorist activities in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.

 

 

The IDF has appointed its first female battalion commander, Maj. Oshrat Bachar, who will head a Combat Intelligence unit in the Southern Command along the border with Egypt.

UN Security Council condemned killing of IDF soldier by Lebanon

IDF representatives met with Lebanese Army officers & UNIFIL officials to discuss the incident.

 

JERUSALEM – The United Nations Security Council condemned the killing of an Israeli soldier by a rogue Lebanese soldier on the border between the two countries.

The Security Council in a statement released Monday night called the incident “a serious contravention of the existing operational rules and procedures as related to resolution 1701,” which ended the 2006 Second Lebanon War between Israel and Hezbollah.

Soldier’s Commander prevented his death in lethal accident

 

Despite suffering massive burns himself, the quick-thinking response by a brave young commander who ran to a burning tank, saved his comrade, & prevented an IDF training accident from becoming a deadly one.

During the incident, four combat soldiers were wounded, but the brave actions of company commander Second Lieutenant Eylon Tsarfati – who was also wounded – prevented the incident from ending much worse.

Suspected 16 yr-old punches soldier on her way from Army Radio (Galatz) station to parking lot.

A 20-year-old soldier serving in the Army Radio (Galatz) was attacked Friday evening outside the radio station in the heart of Jaffa. According to the soldier’s testimony, an unknown man hit her in the face.

Magen David Adom emergency services evacuated the soldier in light condition to Edith Wolfson Medical Center in Holon.

Mayan Yogev is probably the busiest paramedic in the IDF: As part of her role as paramedic for the Nahal‘s scouting brigade, which patrols Israel’s Golan Heights on the Syrian border, she has become the IDF’s first responder along what has recently becomes Israel’s most pressing border region.

IDF Proud of its 1st Bedouin Tank Commander

The IDF is about to receive its first Bedouin tank commander. While about 1,000 Bedouin Arabs serve in the IDF, most of them serve as trackers, or in the Bedouin reconaissance battalion. Cpl. Mustafa Tabash will become the first Bedouin tank commander in two weeks’ time, once he completes the Tank Commanders’ Course, reports the IDF Website.

IDF missile destroys Syrian cannon that fired shells on Israel

An IDF Tamuz missile destroyed Wednesday afternoon a Syrian cannon which had fired two shells into Israeli territory earlier in the day and lightly injured two soldiers.

During the incident in the northern Golan Heights, one soldier sustained light wounds from shrapnel, while another suffered from severe shock.
