ICRC stopped supplying tents for homeless Palestinians in Jordan Valley

 

 

According to a Red Cross official, Israeli military & civil officials took down tents it provided to residents after Israeli court ordered IDF to demolish illegal structures.

The International Committee of the Red Cross has stopped providing tents for Palestinian residents in the Jordan Valley whose houses were demolished by the IDF after the Israeli military destroyed them too.

The decision came after the IDF tore down the tents and also prevented the organization from taking tents into villages in the area, as part of a humanitarian aid supply. Continue Reading »

2 Israeli Air Force pilots jailed after maps found on smartphones

 

IAF officials say incident undermines national security posed by mobile technology and enunciates that air force culture must be reconditioned.

 

Two Israeli combat pilots were jailed for five days and 12 others were disciplined for storing maps and other classified information on their smartphones, Army Radio reported this week.

The incident underscores the security risks posed by mobile technology and demonstrates that the culture of the air force must be overhauled, Israel Air Force officials said.

“The ease of photographing and sending pictures, maps and classified information has become the enemy of information security and endangers operational activity,” an air force officer said.

Arab Shot Dead After Firing on IDF Soldiers in Samaria

Palestinian killed at IDF post near Ateret, follows series of shooting attacks in Judea & Samaria.

An Arab terrorist opened fire on an IDF guard post next to the Samaria community of Ateret, which lies roughly midway between Jerusalem and Shechem (Nablus). Soldiers returned fire, taking down the terrorist.

An army statement announced that “a Palestinian terrorist opened fire at an IDF (army) post near Ofra. The soldiers responded immediately in order to eliminate the imminent threat to their lives and fired towards the terrorist, identifying a hit.”

AFP reports that Arab sources have identified the terrorist as 19-year-old Mohammad Mubarak from nearby Jalazun. Continue Reading »

Rabbis’ orders won’t prevent religious girls from serving in IDF

 

IDF female inductees continue to rise as the number of female soldiers in 2013 almost doubled that of 2010, as IDF continues to order more & more military skirts.

The IDF released a video on Sunday showing how a crack combat engineering unit drills the takeover of an enemy position in built-up, urban environments.

The unit, known as Combat Engineering Battalion 601, can be seen planning and executing a simulated nighttime raid in the sort of fighting that Israel can expect to see during the next tussle with the Lebanon-based Shi’ite guerilla organization.

Palestinian shot dead in confrontation with IDF forces on Gaza-Israel border

 

IDF reports that dozens of Palestinians, refusing to heed orders to halt, entered a ‘closed security zone’ on Gaza’s northern border with Israel to riot.

Israeli troops killed a Palestinian man on Friday and wounded others in a cross-border confrontation with protesters in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian hospital officials said. The Israeli army could not confirm that a Palestinian had been killed in the confrontation.

Tavor Battalion Commander: ‘Protecting the security fence is a daily fight’

 

The Tavor Battalion, which is just 1 1/2 yrs-old, one of the youngest in the IDF, has already seen its fair share of ambushes & attacks. Just 2 weeks earlier, a company commander protecting the security fence, came under a Molotov cocktail attack.

 

 

Molotov cocktails, burning tires with exploding gas tanks hidden inside, slingshots that can break bones, shootings – these are the daily security challenges that the Home Front Command’s Tavor Battalion has faced for the past five months, as it defended the West Bank security barrier.

The battalion was deployed in a sector west of Ramallah, covering areas such as the Maccabim checkpoint, Budrus, Bil’in, Ni’lin and Kibya.

Israel Air Force Successful in Nighttime Surgical Elimination of Gaza Terrorist

In the successful joint IDF-Shin Bet operation, the PFLP terrorist who was centrally involved in recent rocket attacks on southern Israel was eliminated.

Israeli Air Force (IAF) aircraft struck in Gaza on Tuesday night and eliminated a terrorist who was involved in rocket attacks on Israel, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said in a statement.
