The Israel Defense Forces has been providing humanitarian aid to Syrians living near the border, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon revealed on Tuesday during a tour of the frontier.

IDF’s Gaza Division Commander: Hamas Cooperates with the IDF

The head of the army’s Gaza Division, Gen. Mickey Edelstein, reveled in a Channel 10 interview that Hamas is ‘Gaza’s cop’ – for now.

Brigadier General Mickey Edelstein, head of the IDF’s Gaza Division, admitted to Channel 10 to a certain degree of cooperation between the IDF and Hamas.

“Hamas is in trouble and now it finds itself isolated,” said Edelstein, in conversation with the Gaza residents released Monday on the television network.

He stressed that “Leaders of Hamas, both the political and military branches, do everything to maintain restraint.” He also claimed that “Hamas soldiers have been prevented from shooting at or mounting charges at the IDF.” Continue Reading »

New joint project hopes to overturn recent trend, hoping a return of kibbutz sabras to forefront of IDF command.

On Sunday morning, nearly 1,200 young kibbutzniks from across the country will hit the road for a bicycle trek in the south. They will ride 160 km (100 mi) on roads and trails in the Negev, as well as a portion of the Israel-Jordan border. The journey will last a week. Its purpose: Create a connection between the kibbutzniks and the IDF, and motivate them to serve in its combat units

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented on an incident in which Druze soldiers were not allowed to enter the Dimona reactor as part of a security drill and said that lessons must be drawn from it. “Our brothers the Druze are our flesh and blood. They serve in combat units in the IDF and should be treated as equals,” he said.

New changes define four categories of soldiers:
1. full-fledged combatants
2.
battle soldiers
3. facilitators of weapons
4. home-front soldiers

 

 

In part of an extended process of defining categories of soldiers within the IDF which is near completion, the IDF is expected to define some of its cyber units as attack units.

2 Palestinian Salafi jihadi terrorists killed in West Bank by Israeli special forces

The Palestinian terrorists, discovered in the Hebron region, were in the planning stages of a terror attack supposed to take place in upcoming days.

Artillery Corps seeks more recruits in growing northern role

 

Israel’s Artillery Corps is becoming a strategic force on Israel’s Syrian border, where it responds with lethal surface-to-surface missiles at enemy positions.

 

With a new precision rocket battalion also coming into service soon, the Artillery Corps, which maintains the Ground Forces’ only drone unit, is hoping that its growing role will attract more young recruits. On Tuesday, the Corps is set to learn how many Israeli youths from the November round of draftees signed up with the Artillery Corps.

Israeli soldiers opened fire on Arab rioters north of Beit El on Saturday, wounding four of them, Palestinian Authority (PA) medical sources said.

The shooting happened near the Jalazoun neighborhood, the sources said. Beit El is located in the biblical heartland of Samaria, north of Jerusalem.

An Israeli military spokesman told AFP that troops fired rubber bullets at a group of around 150 Palestinians who were throwing stones at them, but were unable to determine how many demonstrators were wounded. Continue Reading »

According to a report by Hamas, the Israel Defense Forces attacked an abandoned building. No casualties were reported.

IDF field hospital sent to the Philippines

 

The Foreign Ministry announced that Israel would send a search & rescue team with experience in searching damaged buildings, as well as medical staff and a field hospital.

 

 

The IDF will send a humanitarian mission to assist victims of the Typhoon in the Philippines, army sources said.
