Greece & Israel Conduct Joint Military Exercise

The Greek Air Force & the Israeli Air Force recently concluded a 2-day exercise in Greece.

The joint Israel-Greek exercise took place as ‘Austere Challenge 12’, the IDF’s joint exercise with the U.S. Army, got underway.

The Israeli Air Force and the Greek Air Force recently concluded a two-day joint exercise on Greek soil, Channel 2 News reported on Monday.

According to the report, the Greek Air Force said that, as part of the exercise, F16i fighter pilots from both armies practiced dogfights, bomb raids and long term aerial refueling.

As Israel’s relations with Turkey cooled over the past few years – its relationship with Greece, including security cooperation, has warmed up. Continue Reading »

Next Step Approved in Jerusalem for Homes for Retired IDF & Police

Peace Now says Israel has taken the next step in building new homes for retired police & IDF troops in Jerusalem neighborhoods.

Israel has taken the next step in the process of building new homes for retired police and IDF troops in parts of Jerusalem restored to the city in the 1967 Six Day War. A plan to build the new neighborhood is being marketed to potential developers, according to the leftist Peace Now organization.

IDF official: Int’l sanctions on Iran hurt arms flow to Hezbollah

A heated argument erupted on Wednesday between IDF Military Advocate General Brigadier General Danny Efroni and IDF Personnel Directorate chief Maj. Gen. Orna Barbivai over the latter’s decision to grant clemency to Yana Gorelik, the 30-year old Canadian-Israeli who was imprisoned for allegedly dodging the IDF draft.

Electrocuted Palestinian Boy Taken to Settlers For Treatment

A six-year-old Palestinian who was electrocuted was treated by Jews from Neve Tzuf on Monday after his parents, seeking medical attention, brought him to the settlement’s gate.

The child, who sustained severe injuries, was treated by a medic who resides in the West Bank settlement. He was later evacuated to the Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer for further treatment.

The IDF will begin to draft hareidi-religious 16 to 19-year-olds, but “will wait till after elections” for 20 to 28 year olds, says Defense Minister Ehud Barak.

The IDF will send out the orders within the next few weeks, summoning about 15,000 hareidi-religious Jews for interviews at induction centers, Barak said at a Knesset committee hearing on Monday.

The IDF’s Netzach Yehuda combat battalion and the Shachar high-tech training unit were two of the hareidi service programs Barak said would be expanded to meet the increased recruitment of hareidi-religious Israelis. Continue Reading »

IDF response to Hamas rocket fire & hits Gaza targets

An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was identified penetrating Israeli airspace from the west this morning (Saturday, October 6), and was intercepted by the IAF at approximately 10:00 AM.

Dozens of Syrians approaching Golan border cause evacuation

The IDF said the suspects did not infiltrate the border into Israel. It was not clear whether they were armed.

Last week, mortar shells fired by the Syrian army strayed into Israel, striking northern Israeli farmlands.

The video shows Ron Bronstein, an enlistee in the Israel Air Force, “shuffling” through the basic training process to the tune of LMFAO’s Party Rock Anthem.

In the video, Bronstein dances in the midst of many mundane basic training backdrops that are all to familiar to Israelis who have done military service.

Friday’s clash on the Israeli-Egyptian border that left one IDF soldier and three terrorists killed just proves how important was the decision a couple years ago to build the 24-kilometer fence along the Egyptian border that is now nearing completion, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said Sunday.

The IDF, in a joint operation with the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), was able to foil a planned terror attack in Israel on Wednesday evening, as IAF aircraft struck and killed two terrorists in southern Gaza.

The two terrorists, Ashraf Saleh and Anis Abu Elenein, were members of a group calling itself “The Al-Aqsa Defenders”, which the IDF said is supported by Hamas.

IDF intercepts $2.5M Egyptian drug smuggling attempt

IDF troops discover 700 kilograms of hashish on Egyptian border, making this the biggest drug smuggling bust in 2012

IDF troops on Saturday uncovered some 700 kilograms of hashish near the IsraelEgypt border, making what was deemed to be the biggest drug smuggling bust this year.

The drugs, worth over $2.5 million, were divided into 28 packages and placed inside two off-road vehicles, which were deserted in the Ezuz region.
