Palestinian killed by IDF fire during riot near Mouth Hebron

The Palestinian Security Academy cadet who was shot during clashes with IDF forces in south Mount Hebron, died of his wounds.

A Palestinian was killed in the village of Dura in the south Mount Hebron from IDF fire late Monday night. A riot broke out on site, in which the Palestinian was shot under unclear circumstances.

A military official confirmed the details and informed that the circumstances behind the event were being examined. Security forces in the area are preparing for further riots in response to the event.

The deceased, Muatez Edris Sharuna, 19, was a cadet in the Palestinian Security Academy in Jericho. Continue Reading »

Jewish war veterans are calling for meaningful action to be taken to combat sexual abuse in the U.S. military.

“The Jewish War Veterans of the USA (JWV) condemns the continued prevalence of reported and unreported male and female sexual misconduct in the military and calls for an independent process to review and prosecute these cases,” the group wrote in its Spring 2013 Jewish Veteran magazine.

The magazine called the number of unwanted sexual contacts reported by the Pentagon “alarming” and “seriously understated.” Continue Reading »

Israeli Archaeologists report to have found Shilo Tabernacle

The artifact discovered will be displayed this week at Shilo, showing the  hewn holes in which wooden beams could have been placed.

Archaeologists say they have found the remains of the Biblical Israelites’ Tabernacle at site of ancient Shilo. The Tabernacle precedes the Temples and dates to the period between the conquest of the Land of Israel by Joshua and the rise of King David.

Israel tells Read Cross, We have Moral Right to Fight Back

Israel’s PM Netanyahu issued a clear message Monday to the ICRC head, saying Israel will attack any nation that threatens the security of its citizens.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu issued a blunt warning Monday to the International Committee of the Red Cross, saying Israel has a “legal and moral right” to attack any nation that fires at its civilians.

Speaking with ICRC President Peter Mauer at a meeting in Jerusalem, the prime minister pointed out that Arab terrorists both to Israel’s north and south use civilians as human shields, a crime against humanity.

“Hizbullah terrorists are perpetrating war crimes in Syria and slaughtering innocent Syrian civilians even as it continues to stockpile tens of thousands of rockets, concentrated in residential buildings and aimed at Israeli civilians,” he said. Continue Reading »

Israel Border Policewoman Prevents Stabbing – Apprehends Assailant

A woman serving in the Border Police thwarted a planned stabbing attack by a female Arab terrorist in Hevron Monday morning.

The terrorist, who is a resident of Hevron and in her 20s, arrived at one of the entrances to the Cave of Machpela around 11:00 a.m.. She had come from the casbah area.

UK Customs Official Denies Entry to American Jewish Student

A local Jewish student was denied entry into the United Kingdom late last month. After being detained for more than nine hours, he was put back on a plane to the United States by customs officials. During that time he was never told why he was being denied entry. Lapid Liquor Law is in Line with Other OECD Countries

Beginning Monday, new prices on some alcoholic beverages in Israel will come down, while the cost of others will shoot up considerably.

Beginning Monday, prices on some currently low-cost alcoholic beverages in Israel will shoot up – while the cost of others will come down considerably. The changes will come about as part of a taxation reform to set Israel’s duty on alcohol more in line with other Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries.
