After EU Pressure, Greek party finally backs tough anti-racism law

Only after condemnation from EU, Greek PM’s party ‘reevaluates’ its opposition to new tougher bill that outlaws Holocaust denial.

ATHENS – Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and his conservative New DemewThe about-face on Thursday apparently was in response to widespread condemnation over the party’s stance from the European Union, as well as to Greek and international Jewish groups that had urged Athens to take stronger steps against the ultranationalist, neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party.

New Democracy had refused to back the bill sponsored by two smaller parties in the ruling coalition, saying that existing legislation was sufficient to deal with racist attacks that have been spawned by Golden Dawn.

Anti-Semitic NGOs, which receive funding from official authorities such as the United States and the European Union, use classic Christian blood libels in their claims against Israel, said Professor Gerald Steinberg, head of NGO Monitor.

Steinberg spoke to Arutz Sheva at the 4th conference of the Global Forum for Combating Anti-Semitism which was held in Jerusalem.

Steinberg named MIFTAH, a Palestinian Authority-based NGO, as an example of a group which uses the old Christian blood libel that accuses Jews of using the blood of Christians to bake matzah on Passover, as part of its anti-Israel propaganda. Continue Reading »

Muslims Openly Attack Jews on the Streets of Lyon

Two Jews were suddenly attacked on the streets as they walked to their synagogue on Saturday.

Anti-Semitism continues to plague France. According to local media outlets in Lyon, two Jewish residents of the city were attacked Saturday as they walked to a local synagogue.

The two were attacked by three men of Arab origin in an unprovoked, sudden assault.

The two Jews shouted for help. Neighbors began to arrive at the scene, and the attackers fled.

Police arrived as well, and began to investigate. They discovered that the attack had been captured on film by security cameras at a nearby store. Continue Reading »

New French museum honors rescuers of WWII Jews

PARIS — A French town where dozens of residents saved thousands of Jews from the Holocaust will open a museum to commemorate the rescuers’ actions.

The Memory of Chambon museum is scheduled to open its doors on June 5 in Chambon-sur-Lignon, 70 miles south of Lyon in southern France, according to the French news agency AFP.

Norwegian daily prints Anti-Semitic cartoon of gory circumcision

A leading Norwegian daily  published a caricature depicting what some construed to be Jews torturing a baby during a circumcision.

The caricature that appeared Tuesday in the Dagbladet newspaper –- the country’s third largest in terms of circulation — showed police officers looking on as a bearded man wearing a black hat and black coat sticks a three-tooth pitchfork into the head of a blood-soaked baby while holding a book.

eBay halts bid for ‘Jewish Spot in Heaven’ at $100,000 citing rule violation

eBay was flooded with bids for ‘My Portion in Olam Habaah (Heaven) offered by a Jewish man from New Jersey.
Within just a few hours the price was nearly $100,000, but then eBay closed the site down.

Bouzaglo, who runs Amy’s Baking Company Bakery Boutique & Bistro with his wife Amy, might get deported. To Israel.

His lawyer had no comment on how Bouzaglo ended up in immigration court proceedings, but it seems it has something to do with jail time the Moroccan-born Israeli did for drug distribution and extortion charges before his arrival in the US 13 years ago.

Germany adds $800 million for home care to remaining Holocaust survivors

The announcement of additional funding comes amid controversy over revelations related to a bungled investigations in 2001, that failed to detect a fraud at the Holocaust restitution organization.

NEW YORK (JTA) – The German government agreed to significantly expand its funding of home care for infirm Holocaust survivors and relax eligibility criteria for restitution programs to include Jews who spent time in so-called open ghettos.

The agreement, reached after negotiations in Israel with the Claims Conference, will result in approximately $800 million in new funding for home care for Holocaust survivors from 2014 to 2017.

Reported: Rocket fired at Israel from southern Lebanon

Lebanese security sources say rocket has been fired in the direction of Israel, although it remains a mystery where it may have landed.

A rocket was fired from south Lebanon towards Israel on Sunday, Lebanese security sources said. Residents of the northern Israeli town of Metula reported hearing a blast.
