Pro-Israel advocacy group wins court case against BDS at University of Ontario

 

#BDSfail: Invoking a passed BDS motion, Ontario university’s student association banned a pro-Israel North American advocacy organization from participating in an event last year. The Ontario Human Rights Tribunal found the student association guilty of discrimination.

A pro-Israel North American advocacy organization announced on Thursday that it had won a legal victory after an Ontario university’s student association banned it from participating in an event last year, due to its connection with Israel.

The event in question was Social Justice Week, held at University of Ontario Institute of Technology. Robert Walker, national director of Hasbara Fellowships Canada, had responded to an open invitation for community groups to participate. Continue Reading »

PM Netanyahu asks visiting Irish FM: ‘Why does Ireland finance NGOs that seek Israel’s destruction?’

Simon Coveney, who became Ireland’s foreign minister in a cabinet reshuffle last month, was asked by Israel’s PM and Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely, “why Ireland helps NGOs that call for the destruction of Israel.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took visiting Irish foreign Minister Simon Coveney to task on Tuesday for Dublin’s support of NGOs operating in Israel and the territories.

Former BBC chairman Lord Michael Grade exposes BBC’s coverage of Israel, and anti-Israel terror as ‘inexcusable’, saying, “When Israel acts in self-defense, the narrative is distorted to fit their (the media) narrative of Zionist aggression.”

A member of the House of Lords and former chairman of the British Broadcasting Corporation addressed the problem of media bias against Israel during a speech in Parliament on Wednesday, lambasting the BBCfor its coverage of recent terror attacks against Jews in Israel.

Lord Michael Grade, who was chairman of the BBC from 2004 to 2006, praised his country’s backing for a Jewish national home in the 1917 Balfour Declaration, but lamented that much of the media today feeds false narratives about the Jewish state, while anti-Semites use Zionism and Zionists as a proxy for attacking Judaism and Jews. London mayor seeks to make supporting Hezbollah illegal in Britain

 

Following the outrage over Hezbollah’s flags being flown in the city’s Al Quds Day March, which was accompanied with frequent calls for the destruction of Israel, London’s mayor said, ‘Anti-Semitism or hate crime of any kind has no place in our city.’

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, wants to make the act of supporting all factions of Hezbollah illegal in Britain, following outrage over the Lebanese militant group’s flags being flown in the city’s Al Quds Day March in June, the Jewish Chronicle reported on Thursday.Khan will write to Britain’s Home Secretary, Amber Rudd, to urge a change in the law, the paper reported. AGAIN, UNESCO denies Israel sovereignty over Jerusalem

 

The UN’s cultural committee convened in Krakow to approve yet another proposal submitted by Arab states rejecting Israel’s sovereignty over Jerusalem and condemning the Jewish State for conducting archeological excavations in Jerusalem’s Old City.

A committee of the United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization (UNESCO) convened in Krakow Tuesday where it approved the wording of a proposed resolution denying that Israel is the sovereign power over Jerusalem and condemning it for conducting archeological excavations in the Old City.

US church group passes another anti-Israel resolution

 

Ignoring the fact that Israel does not torture arrested children, nonetheless the United Church of Christ passes a resolution against Israel claiming it does torture Arab children, and calling for end of US military assistance, but ignores the fact that ‘the children’ are extremely dangerous, having perpetrated some of the most violent, deadly crimes in Israel.

UNESCO: Hebron Muslim history overly focused, at exclusion of Judeo-Christian heritage

 

This is the third time the International Council on Monuments and Sites has rejected Palestinian Authority’s proposal for a strictly Muslim inscription on a “World Heritage in Danger” list, based on the request’s  exclusion of any Judeo-Christian heritage.

UNESCO experts warned the Palestinian Authority that it has overly focused on Hebron’s Muslim history, at the exclusion of the Judeo-Christian heritage, in its request that the West Bank’s city’s “Old Town” be inscribed on the “World Heritage in Danger” list.

The failure to make a full case for inscription as a heritage site combined with Israel’s decision to ban experts from visiting the city make it difficult to conclude if an emergency situation exists, the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) said in an 11-page report it submitted over the weekend. The Palestinian Authority is asking the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO to meet in two weeks to recognize the Old City of Hevron and the Tomb of the Patriarchs as Palestinian Heritage Sites.

Jerusalem-based watchdog group NGO Monitor is accusing the U.N. Human Rights Council of deception and bias for its decision to compile a “blacklist” of companies from or with ties to Israel that operate beyond the Green Line, with the aim of declaring them illegal.

UN agency accuses Israel of extrajudicial executions omitting they were armed terrorists

 

A United Nations group has charged Israel in their report of using “force that has at times been deemed excessive” against the Palestinians, “which may have amounted to extrajudicial executions.”

The UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) accused Israel in a report Wednesday of using “force that has at times been deemed excessive” against the Palestinians, “which may have amounted to extrajudicial executions.”According to ECOSOC, from April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017, Israeli security forces killed 63 Palestinians, including 19 children, and wounded 2,276 others, including 562 children.

Jerusalem to expel UN official from Israel

 

Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs demands UN staffer Robert Piper be replaced after his improper public critique of Israeli military policies in Judea and Samaria.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs is demanding that Robert Piper, a United Nations staffer be replaced after learning of comments he made that were critical of Israel, Walla news site reported.

Israel is also threatening to revoke the residency permit of the staffer, who works as the United Nations Humanitarian Aid and Development Coordinator.

US Envoy to the UN, Nikki Haley: Latest UNHRC report also ‘reeks of anti-Israel bias’

 

In the statement issued to the UNHRC, Haley wrote, “This report is just the latest example of the Human Rights Council singling out Israel rather than focusing on the world’s actual human rights abusers. Not only does it undermine the credibility of the Human Rights Council on human rights issues, but it once again highlights the unfair bias of the UN when it comes to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”
