Tunisia port dropped by Norwegian Cruise Lines over anti-Israeli discrimination

Norwegian Cruise Lines dropped Tunisia from its itineraries after the country refused to allow Israeli citizens to disembark in the Port of Tunis.

About 20 Israelis were quietly told before disembarking from the Norwegian Jade over the weekend that they were not welcome per the Tunisian government.

The cruise line’s decision to drop Tunisia was first reported by Cruise Critic, an online cruise information site.

Cruise ship captain acquiesced: Israelis barred from entering Tunis

 

Non-Israeli Jewish passenger were allowed to disembark and that the ship personnel kept it all a secret.

 

Israeli tourists aboard a Norwegian cruise ship were barred from disembarking in the Port of Tunis Sunday. They were forced to remain on the “Norwegian Jade”, while non-Israeli Jewish passengers were allowed off.

A Jewish Canadian passenger on the ship who preferred to remain nameless told Haaretz that there were approximately 20 Israelis on the ship and that at first, no one knew they were denied entry because “the ship kept it a secret.”

Islamic hardliners in Iran’s parliament have summoned Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif over public comments condemning the Holocaust, the official news agency IRNA reported on Monday.

Zarif, who is also Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator, caused an uproar among conservatives in Iran when he called the Holocaust a “horrifying tragedy” in an interview with a German television station late last month.

Israeli Arab Member of Knesset Basel Ghattas has issued an appeal to Pope Francis to personally intervene against the enlistment of Arabic-speaking Christians in the Israeli army.

Haaretz reports that Ghattas’ letter was delivered to the Vatican’s representative in Jerusalem, Archbishop Giuseppe Lazzarotto, in hopes that Pope Francis would address the issue when he visits the Holy Land in May.

Like most other minorities, local Arabic-speaking Christians are not required to serve in the Israeli army, but a growing number are choosing to do so, many at the encouragement of the Nazareth-based Israeli Christian Recruitment Forum. Continue Reading »

French courts punish anti-Israel BDS activists in hate crime

 

About 20 anti-Israel BDS activists have been convicted under the Lellouche law, which has France spearheading the efforts to neutralize the movement through legal means.

Disney Boots Arabic’s Donald Duck over hateful anti-Israel tweet

Egyptian voice-over personality says he’s proud to be fired over his Tweet calling for Israel’s destruction.

 

 

A tweet calling for the destruction of Israel cost an Egyptian voice-over artist his job with Walt Disney, as the voice of the Arabic version of Donald Duck.

“Disney decided I am no longer the official voice of Donald Duck in its middle-east dubbed cartoons because of an anti-Zionism tweet,” Wael Mansour, a radio personality and a voice artist from Cairo tweeted on February 6, adding that he was “Proud!” of the punishment.

British MP George Galloway, who is known for his hatred towards Israel and his backing of the Hamas terrorist group, criticized actress Scarlett Johansson this week for her refusal to back down from an advertising campaign for SodaStream, an Israeli company with a factory in Ma’ale Adumim, a Jerusalem suburb located over the 1949 armistice lines.

Reuters News Headline Falsely Accuses Israel of Threatening Lebanese Civilians

Reuters’ classic anti-Israel bias in it’s news is adequately demonstrated in this purposely misleading and erroneous headline.

A Reuters article about an Israeli military general’s warning to Hezbollah over its establishment of thousands of terrorist bases within residential buildings was published under the following erroneous headline:

In fact, the article makes clear that Israel did not threaten any Lebanese civilians. Rather, Israel’s Air Force chief, Major General Amir Eshel called out Hezbollah for establishing thousands of terrorist bases within residential buildings and warned that the Israeli army would not be deterred from retaliating for attacks launched from within these quarters. Canada asks UNHRC to Fire Richard Falk after accusing Israel of having ‘genocidal’ intentions

 

United Nation’s Rapporteur, wrote an article that said Israel was “slouching toward nothing less than a Palestinian holocaust.”

 

 

Canada called on the United Nations Human Rights Council to dismiss its special investigator Richard Falk after he accused Israel of “genocidal” intentions against the Palestinians in a brief English language interview on Russian television.

“Canada has previously called for Falk to be fired for his numerous outrageous and anti-Semitic statements and these comments underscore once more the complete and total absurdity of his service as a UN Special Rapporteur,” Canada’s Foreign Minister John Baird said in a statement he issued on Monday.

Native North American academic association is newest group to declare their support for boycotting of Israeli academic institutions.

 

 

 

Another small North American academic association – the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association (NAISA) –  decided this week to boycott Israeli academic institutions.

Ohio State English professor Chadwick Allen, the president of the association and coordinator of American Indian Studies at Ohio State, wrote on the association’s website that the move followed a “member-generated” petition asking that the group “formally support the Boycott of Israeli Academic and Cultural Institutions that was initiated by the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel.” Continue Reading »

Dutch ambassador summon to Foreign Ministry to explain ‘pro-boycott atmosphere’ in Holland

Official protest over “ambiguous” remarks by Dutch gov’t comes day after Holland’s water-giant, Vitens, terminated  cooperation agreement with Mekorot, Israel’s water corporation.

 

 

 

The Foreign Ministry summoned Dutch Ambassador Casper Veldkamp to protest what it said were “ambiguous” statements by the Dutch Foreign Ministry creating a pro-boycott atmosphere of Israel in the Netherlands, on Wednesday.

The protest came a day after the Dutch water-giant, Vitens, canceled cooperation with Israel’s water corporation Mekorot because of alleged infractions of international law.
