AFP report 2 dead (unconfirmed) amidst tense standoff in Dammartin-en-Goele, developments on police shooting, as many as 5 hostages at kosher deli.

A second hostage crisis is unfolding in Paris Friday, French police announced to the media Friday afternoon: an armed man has taken a hostage in a kosher grocery store in the French capital.

1-2 people have been shot and wounded by a gunman with a Kalashnikov-type rifle, according to French media, who has taken the hostage at the Hypercasher supermarket in Vincennes.

French media has now begun to report that there are 5 hostages there, including women and children, but this has not been officially confirmed.

Lower Egyptian court forbids Jews from celebrating at Jewish mystic’s grave

The Egyptian court said its ruling was based on “moral offenses” committed during previous years at the 3-day Jewish festival celebrating Rabbi Jacob Abu Hasira’s birth.

CAIRO – An Egyptian court permanently banned a Jewish celebration that has taken place since the 1979 peace deal with Israel and asked the government to remove the tomb where it takes place from a list of official shrines, judicial sources said on Monday.

Survey: Over 50% of Poland’s teens search anti-Semitic &/or pro-Hitler websites

The University Center for Research on Prejudice conducted a survey also found that 14% of the survey participant confirmed that racist hate-speech was common in Poland.

 

Over half of Poland’s young people access anti-Semitic Internet sites that praise Hitler and Nazism, the Fox News website reported, citing a Warsaw University study.

After French court ruling, Twitter clamps down on hate-speech & anti-Semitism

After the French court ruled Twitter must remove certain hate-speech & anti-Semitic content, social media companies, like YouTube & Facebook have implemented stricter rules against hate speech.

A little over a year after a French court forced Twitter to remove some anti-Semitic content, experts say the ruling has had a ripple effect, leading other Internet companies to act more aggressively against hate speech in an effort to avoid lawsuits.

The 2013 ruling by the Paris Court of Appeals settled a lawsuit brought the year before by the Union of Jewish Students of France over the hashtag #UnBonJuif, which means “a good Jew” and which was used to index thousands of anti-Semitic comments that violated France’s law against hate speech.
