Joshua Malina asks ‘Why is Hollywood still hiring this raging anti-Semite?’

Actor Joshua Malina, known for his roles on TV series such as The West Wing, The Big Bang Theory, Scandal and Shameless, called on Hollywood on Thursday to “cancel” known filmmaker and actor Mel Gibson over his alleged antisemitism.

Writing an article for The Atlantic, the Jewish actor responded to news of Gibson directing the fifth installment of the Lethal Weapon franchise, saying that he is a “well-known Jew-hater” and that “you couldn’t pay me enough to work with Mel Gibson.” Continue Reading »

Jerusalem setting up conditions to draw Hollywood productions to Israel

 

MK Michael Oren moves to realize formation of “Holy-wood” film authority, with special grants of up to 35% of investment value, paving the way for Israel to host big-budget productions for Hollywood.

A new initiative by the Finance Ministry aims to turn Israel into a desirable location for the biggest Hollywood producers, Israel Hayom learned over the weekend.

Formulated by MK Michael Oren, deputy minister for foreign policy in the Prime Minister’s Office, the plan would have Israel establish a new government body to attract big-budget productions by wooing them with sizable grants.

The Friends of the IDF (FIDF) organization on Thursday night held its annual event honoring the IDF at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles, where an outpouring of 1,200 people including numerous celebs showed their support for the Israeli army.

As is the case each year, the event was hosted by Israeli billionaire Haim Saban, who together with his wife Cheryl was able to invite Hollywood notables such as actors Antonio Banderas, Jason Alexander, Mark Wahlberg, Jason Segel, Liev Schreiber, singers Enrico Macias, David Foster, and Gene Simmons of the band Kiss, as well as several others. Jerusalem to become film & TV hub to attract international filmmakers

Noting major Hollywood projects by  Richard Gere & Natalie Portman in Jerusalem, Mayor Barkat says time has come to incorporate the Jewish capital into a global production destination.

 

On the heels of several high-profile Hollywood productions filmed, or filming, in the capital, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat announced on Tuesday his intention to build a major film and television complex in the city to attract more international filmmakers.

The Douglas family booked the King David Hotel’s presidential suite, ahead of touring Jerusalem and family’s celebration at the Western Wall plaza.

 

Jerusalem was star struck over the weekend, as Hollywood couple Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas arrived Thursday in Israel, local media reported.

The glamorous duo brought their children, too. Indeed, the purpose of their under-the-radar visit to the holy land was part of the bar-mitzvah celebrations for their first-born, Dylan Michael.

Mother Catherine, who comes from Welsh and Irish stock, has toyed in the past with the possibility of converting to Judaism, but has yet to go through with it, according to The Forward.
