2 rockets fired at Israel from Syria, IDF returns fire

Druze residents from their northern Golan Heights villages reported hearing several explosions near Syrian border.
No injuries or damages reported.

The IDF fired 20 artillery shells at Syrian positions from which rockets were launched at Israel, two of which exploded in the northern Golan Heights on Tuesday. The rockets likely hit open areas and at this stage, no injuries or damages were reported.

IDF Bolsters Borders with Lebanon & Syria Against Potential Hezbollah Attacks

 

The IDF is being ultra-cautious since the air strike on Sunday that killed 6 Hezbollah & 6 Iranian Revolutionary Guards senior commanders near Quneitra, in the Syrian Golan Heights.

The IDF will increase its presence in northern communities throughout Thursday. As a result, local residents will see an increase in military traffic in their areas.

IDF Places Northern Border Communities on Alert After Suspicious Movement in Lebanon

Israel’s Air Force on high alert, along with artillery batteries, infantry & armored units added along Israel’s northern border as IDF evaluates situation.

The IDF identified suspicious activity on the Lebanese side of the northern border fence on Wednesday evening, leading to road closures and local communities being put on alert.

IDF Investigation Finds Soldiers Not Liable in PA Terrorist-Minister Abu Ein’s Death

Thorough IDF investigation finds neither Border Police or IDF culpable in terrorist-turned-PA minister’s death by heart attack, but IDF’s CID will continue in independent investigation due to ‘sensitivity’.

An investigation by the IDF GOC (General Officer Commanding) Central Command Nitzan Alon has further cleared the army of any responsibility for the death of convicted terrorist turned Palestinian Authority (PA) minister Ziad Abu Ein, who died last month of a heart attack while clashing with soldiers.

Channel 10 reports that the GOC Central Command investigation has also cleared the Border Patrol soldier who was filmed pushing Abu Ein as he took part in an olive-planting land grab with 300 activists.

2014 Saw 14 New IDF Innovations

IDF released list of developments from 2014 that included new equipment, new programs, and new regulations, many of which were instituted during ‘Operation Protective Edge’.

The IDF released a list Friday of 14 new changes instituted in 2014 on its website – ranging from a focus on healthier food to upgrades in defense.

Overall, meals became healthier and more “green,” it said, with two new programs upgrading ready-to-eat meals for combat soldiers and offering vegan options for all recruits. Combat rations were made with lower fat and served for the first time during Operation Protective Edge in Gaza.

Internal IDF war crimes investigations jeopardize harmony between soldiers and command

 

 

Internal military investigation threatens the ranks, turning IDF commanders and lawyers against one another in what some call a foreign inspired ‘witch hunt’.

 

The army is at war with itself.

A bombshell has fallen within the ranks, turning military commanders and lawyers against each other on a possibly unprecedented level over whether the IDF legal division, the Office of the Military Advocate-General, should criminally investigate IDF commanders and soldiers over certain incidents from last summer’s Gaza war.

Haaretz Journalists Arrested for Spitting and Assaulting IDF officer

Cleared for publication:  Alex Levac and Gideon Levy were arrested for assaulting soldiers in attempt to cross into ‘Area A’ without legal documentation.

The Israeli journalists who were arrested Monday afternoon near the IDF checkpoint at Tulkarem, after they entered the Palestinian Authority-controlled Area A of Judea-Samaria without permission or IDF coordination, have been revealed as none other than Haaretz‘s Gideon Levy and Alex Levac.

Haaretz itself has blamed the IDF for the incident.

“Their job is to help the vital work of journalists and not sabotage it under false pretenses, and certainly not to arrest journalists performing their duties,” the newspaper stated Monday night.

Palestinian killed after throwing IED at IDF soldiers in Qalandiya

IDF forces responded by return-fire after encountering scores of Palestinians shooting & throwing improvised explosive devices at them  when unit entered refugee camp to arrest wanted suspect.

IDF forces killed a Palestinian Tuesday morning and lightly wounded another during a violent confrontation in the Qalandiya refugee camp north of Jerusalem.

The army reported that scores of Palestinians approached the soldiers, shooting towards them and throwing stones and improvised explosive devices.

Israel remains silent on security cooperation with Lebanese military

 

Despite being technically in a state of war, Jerusalem says IDF is prepared to work together with Lebanon’s armed forces to fight against Sunni Islamist militants.

Israel’s military said on Wednesday it was exploring the possibility of cooperating with the Lebanese army to counter Sunni Islamist militants, even though the two countries remain technically at war.

New Rules of Engagement for IDF: Soldiers May Open Fire When Attacked With Fireworks

IDF Legal Advisor for Judea & Samaria issued orders  allowing the use of live fire at the fireworks handler in life-threatening situations.

The Legal Advisor for the IDF’s Judea and Samaria Division, Colonel Doron Ben Barak, has given soldiers permission to use live fire against rioters who attack them with fireworks, if the fireworks endanger their lives.

“There are circumstances in which aiming a firework directly at a soldier from close range may create a real and immediate danger to his life, efficient defense against which may certainly require opening live fire against the person who fired the fireworks,” determined the advisor. IDF confirms: Gaza Rocket Landed in Israel

IDF never activated sirens on Friday for Gaza frontier communities. No one hurt, no damages reported.

A rocket launched from Gaza on Friday landed in the Eshkol Regional Council in southern Israel, the army said.

The IDF had detected a projectile heading toward Israeli territory – the second such incident since Israel and Hamas reached a deal on August 26 to halt seven weeks of fighting. The cease-fire has largely been holding.

It was not immediately clear whether the rocket landed in Israel or within Gaza, as no sirens were heard in Gaza frontier communities. Continue Reading »

Business Insider puts IDF at top of list of 15 strongest regional armies, saying Israel has space assets, drones, advanced jets, nuclear weapons, & “the Israeli Air Force is the best in the world.”

Although the balance of power and geopolitical interests have rapidly shifted in the Middle East in recent years, it appears Israel has managed to maintain — at least for the time being — its military supremacy, according to the news website Business Insider. On Monday the website published its ranking of the 15 strongest armies in the region, and put the Israel Defense Forces at the top.
