IDF Soldier Wounded in the Golan By Stray Gunfire From Syria

Israeli soldier evacuated to hospital after being shot by ‘stray gunfire’ near Quneitra crossing.

Stray gunfire from Syria wounded an Israeli soldier in the Golan Heights on Monday, the army said.

“An IDF (Israel Defense Forces) soldier was injured by errant fire from internal fighting in Syria. He was evacuated to hospital,” an army statement said, without elaborating.

The soldier is reportedly from the Armored Corps., which is currently stationed along the Israeli-Syrian border.

IDF sources told Arutz Sheva Monday that the gunfire surfaces after a full day of quiet along the border, with no shots or explosions heard on the Syrian side. Continue Reading »

Allowed for Publication: New Details Released in Teens’ Murder

As mastermind of kidnapping & murder of Israel’s three Jewish teens is indicted, security forces release additional details of the attack not previously made public.

An indictment was submitted today (Thursday) against the mastermind of the kidnap and murder of Israeli teenagers Eyal Yifrah, Gilad Sha’ar and Naftali Frenkel, as more details emerge about the circumstances of their abduction.

With the completion of the interrogation of the suspects, several new pieces of information have been released for publication.

One month after the abduction, on July 11, a joint arrest operation between the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) and the police nabbed Hussam Hassan Kawasmeh, who owned the plot of land in which the murdered teens’ bodies were discovered, after they were murdered and hastily buried there by their kidnappers: Marwan Kawasmeh and Amar Abu-Eishah – who are both still on the run. IDF Investigating Northern Border for Hezbollah Terror Tunnels

 

 

Report: Reservists say IDF ordered search for possible terror tunnels along Israeli-Lebanese border, despite repeated reassurances that no such threat exists.

The Chief of the Northern Command, Major General Yair Golan, met last month with the mayors of communities near Lebanon and addressed concerns from residents that Hezbollah is actively digging tunnels toward Israel.

Thirty members of Israel’s first pre-military course specially tailored for Christian Arab citizens entering the Israel Defense Forces celebrated their graduation in a formal ceremony in Haifa this week. The group includes four women.

Current law does not require most Israeli Arabs to serve in the military.

Cleared for publication: Leader Behind Kidnapping & Murder of 3 Israeli Teens Arrested

Israeli security forces have arrested the leader of the Hamas terror cell which kidnapped and murdered Israeli teenagers Naftali Frenkel, Eyal Yifrah and Gilad Sha’ar.

Hussam Kawasmeh, a resident of Hevron, was arrested in the Arab neighborhood of Shuafat in Jerusalem in a joint operation involving IDF forces and the Shabak (Israel Security Agency), and has admitted under interrogation to having orchestrated the kidnapping and said he received funding from Hamas officials in Gaza. It is not clear precisely when he was detained, but news of the arrest was only released for publication on Tuesday evening. Continue Reading »

Terrorist Shoots Soldier in Jerusalem

According to a report on Channel 2, an Israeli was shot in the stomach at the entrance to the Har Hatzofim (Mount Scopus) tunnel  in Jerusalem.

An eyewitness named Eti said that the victim is a soldier. “I saw him falling backward,” she told reporter Moshe Nusbaum.

The wounded man is about 20, said the channel’s reporters, and he is in moderate to serious condition and received treatment on the spot. Continue Reading »

The Israeli army reported on Thursday that some 150 gunmen from Hamas and allied terror groups had surrendered to IDF forces during raids in southern Gaza a day earlier.

Some 80 of those were disarmed and immediately freed, while the other 70 were deemed “persons of interest” and were transferred to Israel for interrogation.

In the picture to the left, the prisoners, having been stripped to ensure they were not concealing weapons or explosives, are lined up in preparation for the short march back to Israeli territory.

7 More IDF Soldiers/Officers Killed

 

Israel’s toll among the IDF in Operation Protective Edge reaches 25 dead, 30 injured, Monday.

The IDF Spokesperson’s Office stated Monday night that seven additional soldiers and officers have been killed in Gaza, as the fourteenth day of Operation Protective Edge draws to a close.

Their families have been notified.

Sergeant First Class Yuval Dagan, 22, from Kfar Saba, served in the Golani Brigade.  Dagan’s funeral will be held Monday night in the military cemetery in Kfar Saba.

Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades claims to have kidnapped Israeli soldier; IDF investigates

 

Announcement from Hamas’ military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades says that they captured and hold an IDF soldier captive, but provides no conclusive evidence.

Hamas’ military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, claimed Sunday evening that the organization had successfully kidnapped an Israeli soldier in the Gaza Strip. The militants did not present any evidence in their announcement and the IDF said that officials are investigating the issue.

Col. Rassan Alian, a Golani Brigade battalion commander, was injured overnight Saturday in light-to-moderate condition and was evacuated to Soroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheva. He talked with his family members on the phone, telling them he intended to return to his soldiers in the Gaza Strip.

IDF Destroys 260 Terror Targets in Gaza Since Ground Operation Began

Among the terror targets hit were governance infrastructure, weapons production & storage sites, tunnels & 21 terrorists have been captured.

Since the ground operation in Gaza began, the IDF has attacked 260 terror targets, according to updated statistics released by the IDF Spokesperson on Friday night.

Among the targets that were hit are leadership and governance infrastructure, weapons production and storage sites, tunnels and homes of senior Hamas officials.

So far, according to the IDF, 22 entrances to terror tunnels have been uncovered. The tunnels are used for both smuggling of weapons as well as for combat purposes. Continue Reading »
