At EU, Peres asks them to recognize Hezbollah as terror organization

In speech to the European Parliament Tuesday morning, Shimon Peres warns that time is running out to curtail Iran’s nuclear ambitions and went on stressing the need of ensuring Syrian biological weapons don’t fall into the hands of terrorist groups.

 

President Shimon Peres called on the European Union to list Hezbollah as a terrorist organization, in an address to the European Parliament in Strasburg on Tuesday.

Under the banner, “Tunes for peace,” the Israeli singer performed at the UN headquarters in New York in the presence of the UN secretary-general, the General Assembly president, ambassadors, diplomats and Jewish community leaders.

Stephen Colbert, who is well-known for his feigned conservative, right-wing political leanings, introduced the topic of Israel by saying that he was “certainly a better friend than Barack Obama, who has repeatedly snubbed our ally ‘Yisrael’ by refusing to visit the country,” a reference to the fact that Obama’s upcoming trip will be his first since assuming office in 2008. Egypt‘s tourism minister flew to Tehran on Monday in a bid to lure Iranian tourists to help his country’s ailing economy as relations between the two regional heavyweights continues to slowly improve.

EgyptHesham Zazou is heading a 14-person delegation that will spend five days in Iran for meetings with tour operators, travel agents and officials centered on how to promote tourism to Cairo, an Egyptian diplomat traveling with the group said.

The head of Egypt’s Civil Aviation Authority, Mohammed Ibrahim Sharif, said the visit by Zazou also aims to develop use of an Iranian-Egyptian accord allowing direct flights between the two countries. Continue Reading »

Intelsat Removes Iran’s Channel PressTV from U.S. & Canada

Iran’s national Press TV has a history of notoriously promoting Holocaust denial & giving air-time to neo-Nazi propaganda.

Pro-Israel media activist group HonestReporting Canada welcomed news on Saturday that global satellite communication provider Intelsat had removed Iran’s state-funded propaganda mouthpiece PressTV from its broadcast platform in Canada and the United States.

PressTVThe NGO expressed its concern, however, that PressTV is still accessible over Intelsat’s Galaxy 19 platform.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has unveiled the country’s newest fighter jet, which officials claim can evade radar.

Ahmadinejad said at a Saturday ceremony broadcast on state TV that Qaher-313, or Dominant-313, showed Iran’s will to “capture peaks.”

Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi says Qaher is “fully indigenous,” designed and built by Iranian aerospace experts.

Thursday’s Updates of Israel’s reported strike on the Syria-Lebanon border

The target of the IAF attack was apparently an arms convoy moving from Syria to Lebanon, but it is still not clear exactly where the strike occurred because of contradicting reports, or whether the SA-17 Missile cache also included chemical weapons.

International media reported Wednesday that Israel launched an overnight air strike on Lebanon’s border with Syria, after carrying out four separate flyover missions in Lebanese air space.
