#BDSfail: Beyoncé concert in Israel is scheduled for August


Veiled in secrecy, but finally confirmed Thursday, one of the music world’s hottest superstars has scheduled 2 shows in Tel Aviv for early August.

Superstar Beyoncé is set to play two concerns in Tel Aviv’s Yarkon Park early this August, it was confirmed on Thursday.

Despite an agreement between the Israeli production company and the singer’s representatives, officials at the company denied that there was any signed contract.

Rumors and speculation swirled over the possible concert on Tuesday, when official dates for Beyoncé’s international tour were published on her website, including an August show at Tel Aviv’s Yarkon Park. Continue Reading »

An Israeli system that protects planes from surface-to-air missiles has passed a test conducted by NATO, which could open up new markets for the technology in the alliance’s 28 member states, defense electronics manufacturer Elbit Systems said Monday.

The system, which can jam incoming heat-seeking missiles with a laser, is already in use by civilian Israeli carriers.

MUSIC, or Multi Spectral Infrared Countermeasures, is a family of high-performance, directed infrared countermeasure systems, which are integrated with other advanced, passive airborne warning systems to protect aircraft against heat seeking surface-to-air missiles and shoulder-launched rockets. When a big name is involved, there’s a good chance they’ll get an email from Roger Waters himself, asking that they forgo the planned performance and join the cultural boycott of Israel, led by the BDS movement. To perform in Israel, there’s plenty of obstacles for international artists and bands coming to Israel, including the cancellations of scheduled concerts due to security concerns.

It’s not easy being a music lover in Israel. When the next conflict, or even war, could be just around the corner, the status of an expected concert can be confusing amidst a maelstrom of different reports, rumors, confirmations, and cancellations.

A Spanish music festival has cancelled a performance by Jewish reggae star Matisyahu – because he refused to produce a statement clearly endorsing “Palestinian statehood,” according to Spanish media outlets.

Matisyahu – who shot to fame as a bearded “hassidic raggae” star, before leaving Orthodox Judaism in 2011 – was due to appear at the Rototom Sunsplash festival in Benicassim, north of Valencia. The announcement came less than a month after Carey’s private visit to Israel, on which she was accompanied by her partner, Australian billionaire James Packer, and her two young twins.

German Air Force planes to get Israeli anti-missile lasers installed


Israel’s Elbit system designed to protect large military & commercial aircraft against  ground attacks by heat seeking portable missiles to be installed on German Air Force planes.




Elbit Systems will install its J-Music anti-missile laser protection system on German Air Force transport planes, the Israeli defense firm announced Monday.

Elbit was awarded the contract by Germany’s DIEHL Defence company, and within a year, the system will be operational on new German A400M Airbus aircraft.

“Designed to protect large military and commercial aircraft against attacks by ground to air heat seeking man-portable missiles (MANPADS), the J-MUSIC systems, will be integrated into a multi-turret DIRCM (Direct Infra Red Counter-Measures) system, ensuring 360 degree protection of the aircraft,” Elbit said in a statement. Pop singer Lady Gaga was a fan of Israel before she performed here several weeks ago – and she’s an even bigger fan now, she told the Independent newspaper in London last weekend. Commenting on her recent show, Gaga said that “Tel Aviv was magnificent. The world view of Israel is just not reality. It’s in a beautiful place, the people are in good spirits.”

“I had a very emotional show with those fans. It was wonderful,” she added.

The Beach Boys are surfin’ into Israel for a November concert

It’s official: The  Beach Boys Tel Aviv performance will consist of 2 members from the original 1960’s band, Mike Love & Bruce Johnston, and 5 other musicians.

Despite prior cancellations, Lady Gaga will perform in Tel Aviv as planned

The announcement comes as a number of artists have canceled or postponed their shows because of the rocket attacks that accompanied Israel’s conflict with Hamas in Gaza.

Tickets for Lady Gaga’s show, set for Tel Aviv’s Hayarkon Park, went on sale in June.
