Jordan’s Parliament vote to expel Israeli envoy over Knesset’s Temple Mount debate

No action expected after non-binding parliamentary decision, unless Knesset accepts MK Feiglin’s recommendation that Israel proclaim sovereignty of the Temple Mount.

 

 

Jordan’s parliament voted unanimously Wednesday to expel the Israeli ambassador and recall its own envoy, after Israeli lawmakers debated whether to declare sovereignty over the Temple Mount, which is administered by Jordanians.

The vote by acclamation in Jordan’s 150-seat parliament is not binding to the cabinet, which is keen to maintain diplomatic ties with Israel.

The Israeli Knesset on Tuesday debated a bill which envisages the “application of Israeli sovereignty” over Jerusalem’s Temple Mount compound, which includes the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Police ascend Temple Mount, 3 Palestinian rioters arrested

 

Rioting Arabs threw stones and firecrackers at security forces from the holy site, requiring police to enter it to disperse violent crowd.

About 20 masked Palestinians threw stones and firecrackers at Israeli security forces from atop the Temple Mount Tuesday morning.

A police force entered the area to disperse the rioters using crowd dispersal means, including stun grenades. Three rioters were arrested on suspicion they threw rocks and firecrackers at security forces.

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper planned to tour the Temple Mount after visiting the Western Wall (Kotel) Tuesday, but the visit was torpedoed at the last minute by the Muslim Waqf, which said it would not allow Harper’s security detail onto the Mount, since some of the bodyguards are Jewish, leading Temple activist Yehuda Glick told Arutz Sheva in an exclusive interview. The Islamic Waqf, which supervises the Temple Mount, Judaism’s holiest site, has issued a pamphlet that makes new claims regarding the Mount – arguing, among other things, that King Solomon was a Muslim and that there is no Jewish connection to either the Temple Mount or the Western Wall (Kotel).

News Report published by American Jewish media on Israeli authorities’ negligence regarding supervision of Muslim digs at Temple Mount, was buried by the Israeli gov’t in 2007.

 

 

The American news website The Jewish Voice has published a translation of an Israeli State Comptroller’s report on Israeli authorities’ conduct regarding digs at Jerusalem’s Temple Mount in 2007. In Israel, a gag order was placed on the report due to fears it would harm Israel’s foreign relations and spark violent confrontations at the Temple Mount. Jordan Protest Israel’s Newly Installed Temple Mount CC Security Cameras

Jordan expressed its outraged at Israel’s installation of closed-circuit security cameras following attacks on civilians and Israel Police, accuses Israel of violating Muslim religious freedom.

Jordan, the custodian of Muslim holy sites in Jerusalem, demanded on Tuesday that Israel remove surveillance cameras at the Al-Aqsa mosque compound on the Temple Mount, the AFP news agency reports.

“Jordan rejects Israel’s installation of surveillance cameras on December 8 to monitor waqf officials and worshippers, particularly women,” Information Minister Mohammad Momani told state news agency Petra.

Ismail Radwan, Minister of Religious Affairs in Gaza’s Hamas government, claims that Israel is trying to cause an artificial earthquake to totally collapse the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. According to Radwan, Israel is attempting to do so to establish the Third Temple.

The comments came at an event organized by female students of the College for Professional Applied Sciences. Police break into Temple Mount in pursuit of stone-throwing Arabs

 

Israel police officers stationed at the Mughrabi Gate break into Temple Mount to disperse rioters after being pelted by stone-throwers.

Police forces who were pelted with stones in Jerusalem’s Mughrabi Gate stormed the Temple Mount compound on Friday. Police said several Arab youths were hurt while running away from officers, who used shock grenades.

The worshippers were removed from the site. No arrests were reported.
