Report: Netanyahu assured Obama Israel not planning ground assault

The Daily Beast reports Israeli PM assured US president Israel’s ground invasion of Gaza will happen only if Hamas escalates rocket fire.

WASHINGTON – Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave private assurances to US President Barack Obama on Friday evening that Israel was not planning at that moment to launch a ground offensive in Gaza, The Daily Beast news website reported.

According to the report, which was published early on Sunday, Netanyahu told Obama that those plans would change if Hamas escalated its rocket war.

According to two American officials who were briefed on the phone conversation between Netanyahu and Obama, the PM said Israel would not consider a full-scale ground invasion of Gaza unless there was escalation from Hamas or an attack that caused significant casualties. Continue Reading »

The Israeli Air Force has issued a new video showing the pinpoint accuracy of aerial bombings and Hamas’ use of holy sites for terror.

The surgical missile strike bombed the underground launcher site in the backyard of a mosque without causing damage to the building, used for worship by Muslims.

Precision aerial bombings in the Pillar of Defense counterterrorist operation have proven themselves, sparing civilian deaths and a media backlash.

A number of rockets targeted the South Sunday morning after a several-hour reprieve from rocket fire overnight Saturday as the IDF targeted dozens of sites in the Gaza Strip. One rocket struck a building in Ashkelon Sunday morning, lightly injuring one person and causing serious damage to the building.

Syrians retaliate by firing mortar that lands in DMZ

Stray Syrian fire hit an IDF patrol in the Golan Heights on Saturday night. No injuries were reported but an IDF jeep was damaged. This is the fourth such incident recorded in the past week.

The incident began when an IDF patrol was hit by Syrian fire in the Tel Hezeka area. The IDF fired artillery at the Syrian post in response.

100 Gaza Rockets Fell Short, Never Left Gaza

Statistics show that of the 824 rockets fired from Gaza at Israel over the past few days, 100 have landed in Gaza itself!

While Gaza’s terrorists have fired hundreds of rockets and missiles into Israel over the past few days, quite a few have landed in Gaza itself.

According to statistics published by the IDF on Saturday night as the fourth day of Operation Pillar of Defense ended, 824 rockets have been fired at Israel, 243 of which were intercepted by the Iron Dome anti-missile system. 100 of those rockets have landed in Gaza.

At the same time, IAF aircraft, using precise intelligence, have succeeded in hitting no less than 900 terrorist targets in the four days of the operation. Continue Reading »

Hacker collective Anonymous launched a wide-scale attack, named “#OpIsrael”, on hundreds of Israeli websites late Friday night in protest of Operation Pillar of Defense in the Gaza Strip. The attacks ranged from high-profile targets like the Foreign Ministry to tourism companies and locksmiths.

The Hamas government headquarters, which housed Gaza “prime minister” Ismail Haniyeh’s offices, were leveled to the ground. In addition, “security compounds, tunnels and electricity transformers” were hit, according to Al Jazeera. “Missiles also knocked out five electricity transformers, plunging more than 400,000 people into darkness, according to the Gaza electricity distribution company,” the news network reported. After air raid sirens sound in Tel Aviv & Rishon Lezion at around 4:30pm, new Battery deployed in Tel Aviv area on Saturday makes 1st interception.

For the third time in three days an air raid siren sounded in Tel Aviv. The Iron Dome battery which had been deployed in the region just hours earlier intercepted one rocket fired from Gaza. Another rocket landed in an open area. No injuries were reported.

Hamas‘ military wing, Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, claimed responsibility for the firing of the Fajr 5 missile.

A barrage of four rockets was fired from Gaza toward Ashdod at around noon Saturday. One of the rockets struck a building in the city and two others landed in a residential area. A number of people suffered from anxiety. The fourth projectile did not cause any injury but damaged a vehicle. Channel 2 said four people sustained light wounds during the attack on Ashdod. The Israel Air force struck Hamas leader Ismael Haniyeh’s headquarters in the northern Gaza Strip early Saturday morning, according to the IDF Spokesman’s Office.

Haniyeh was not at the headquarters during the IAF strike, Israel Radio reported. It was not immediately clear whether there were any casualties in the strike.
