Kingdom has Saudi media initiate a pro-Jewish campaign

 

Numerous pro-Jewish articles appearing in the Saudi press seems to be preparing the groundwork for future cooperation with the Jewish state.

A series of articles in various Saudi news sources appears to be preparing the ground for greater cooperation with the Jewish state, according to Channel 2‘s veteran Arab affairs analyst, Ehud Yaari, who quoted reports by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).

Yaari said that there is absolutely no doubt that the articles are part of a coordinated campaign.

Yaari cited influential female Saudi columnist Saham al-Kahtani, who recently wrote that the description of Jews as the “sons of apes and pigs” in the Quran relates to the period in which the book was written, and not to the Jews of today. Continue Reading »

Lawsuit filed in US district court claims US aid to Israel violates nuclear pact

 

The lawsuit claims foreign aid to Israel violates two amendments of the 1961 Foreign Aid Act, which bans aid to clandestine nuclear powers.

A lawsuit filed in a US district court claims that US aid to Israel is illegal under a law passed in the 1970s that prohibits aid to nuclear powers that don’t sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Grant Smith, director of the Institute for Research: Middle Eastern Policy, who filed the lawsuit Monday with a Washington DC court, said the United States has given Israel an estimated $234 billion in foreign aid since Congress in 1976 passed the International Security Assistance and Arms Export Control Act, with its stipulation regarding countries that did not sign the NPT, according to Courthouse News. Israel tightens security in Jerusalem for Jewish day of mourning

 

In preparation for the thousands of Jews expected to visit the Western Wall on Tisha B’Av, hundreds of additional police will be carrying out security measures in and around Jerusalem.

Israeli police are to boost their presence at Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa mosque compound for a Jewish day of mourning commemorating the destruction of ancient temples there, a spokesman said on Friday.

Muhammad Ali Center Awards IsraAID Humanitarian Award

 

The Muhammad Ali Center has chosen to award IsraAID their Humanitarian Award for the work the Israeli aid NGO has done all over the world.

Israeli judoka Or Sasson on Friday won a bronze medal in the Rio Olympics, after winning a consolation round in the men’s 100 kilogram plus weight class.

Sasson defeated Cuban Alex Garcia Mendoza, shortly after losing a semifinal match to world champion Teddy Riner.

The medal gives Israel its second bronze medal at the Rio Olympics. Earlier this week, judoka Yarden Gerbi won a bronze medal after defeating Japan’s Miku Tashiro in the women’s Judo under 63 kg category. Continue Reading »

Dutch authorities confirmed they were investigating threats against a legal researcher at the Palestinian rights group Al-Haq, who says she’s received multiple death threats since the beginning of the year.

There was a 112 percent increase in the number of Chinese tourists visiting Israel last month, while the overall number of visitors from China since the beginning of the year rose 53 percent compared to last year.

According to the Tourism Ministry, some 6,400 Chinese tourists arrived in Israel in July 2016, compared to some 3,000 in July 2015. Since the beginning of the year, 38,832 Chinese visited the Holy Land, compared to some 25,000 between January and July 2015. Continue Reading »

According to Palestinian reports, at least 10 Islamic Jihad terrorists are reportedly injured in Gaza’s latest terror tunnel collapse.

At least 10 Islamic Jihad terrorists were injured when a terror tunnel leading into Israeli territory collapsed in Gaza late on Tuesday, Palestinian and Israeli media reported.

According to the reports, a few others were missing following the collapse of the tunnel in the Shuja’iyya neighborhood of Gaza City.
